There is a real way ahead look to very early Vulcans, Victors, and DH110 IMO difficult to define really, something like an old fashioned view of the future.

That’s the iconic Vulcan for me…..but I have a feeling I’m in a minority here!;) Probably becausae not many here ever saw the white “in the flesh”.

Not sure about that SH, the anti-flash white was the sole finish carried by the type for six or so years!
The prototypes, VX770 & ‘777, being finished in white was just coincidental being a few years before the bomber white scheme came about.

I must admit I would agree about the white under, camo upper, and black nose being my favourite scheme, although the all camo wrap around (in the correct paint!) comes close!
I guess the all silver must be the rarest with just the early B.1s being used in that scheme.

Actually I remembered the Ils after I posted, I kind of knew Spit and 190 levels were close to B-24, but genuinely surprised that 109 production was as high as that!
The B-24 is generally regarded as the most highly produced US type.

JDK makes a good case for the survival ratio, but thought that Libs were as populor for fire bombing use post-war?
I’m guessing that the other thing which influences B-24 survival numbers is the types’ use through more theatres and roles than the B-17 and thus higher likelyhood to loss through enemy action and accidents?

I know exactly what Al is going on about in regard of wasteful and useless MoD courses, and he makes a very valid point about these seemingly replaceing genuinely useful progression courses.

However I do agree that the term ‘PC’ has just become a meaning to cover a whole host of issues that it probably shouldn’t.
