Great little story there Frampers!
I would think Lee Howard on here would know a fair amount about them, and he is co author of ‘Fleet Air Arm Fixed Wing Aircraft since 1946’ which I would think is the best published source on individual and overall histories.
I remember them operating at Culdrose up to late ’80s (771 sqn possibly?), and saw XK895 19-CU at Kemble about three years ago.
I could never quite understand why the Navy replaced communications Sea Prince C.1/2, with similar vintage Sea Devon C.20 & Sea Heron C.20s?

Google searching is fine, but you need to know which aircraft type you are looking for to find the correct pictures, even then you can end up with all sorts of mis-captioned (and thus misleading) pictures.
It also makes for a more interesting forum when questions are put across here, and some useful incidental chat can arise from it.
Definitely C-46 Commando, Stratocruiser/C-97 is substantially wider on the flight deck and with a few more panes of glass.
Confirms WB781 for me, you can see that the canopy arrangement ends well forward of the wing trailing edge (unlike the two later 3 seater a/c), and the lower front intake bulge of the Griffon powered aircraft, fascinating that the jet pipe tubes seem to be fitted ready for D.Mamba fitment.
Great pic, imagine being a cockpit collector back then!
The same aircaft WB797, seen here in better days.
Edit.. The Coley’s airframe could also be WB781, the first prototype.
I would say it is YA.5 WB781, the rear canopy arrangement was longer on YA.8 WB788, and it appears to have the intake bulge on the lower nose of the Griffon engined B-54s that isn’t on the D.Mamba powered B-88 YB.1 WB797
The last RAF service Lancaster, MR.3 RF325 H-D SMR, ended up at Coleys as well, as pictured by Mark12.
All the info and some supporting pics of the above are in the Scrapyards thread.
Don’t suppose these will be outside over winter will they??? Have a wedding in Wales in December and would be nice to see these on the way?
They will be hangared in CALs’ Twin Peaks, you never know though, you may catch them on a test flight or something
Yes the Army are still in West Camp, now Churchill Lines, more so than ever.
Couple more,

Should also add that Hunter Flying Ltd did the seeing in and ground handling.
Alan, posts #1 & 8 should explain it, Buffalo Airways of Canada owned, leased to Turkey, remaining in Europe (Saints) for off season care and ready for deployment next hot season.
Rochford, Yes I agree, I was misled somewhere. After I posted it dawned on me that it couldn’t be the same aircraft inolved.
…even that would be an improvement!
They haven’t come directly from Canada, these were the two flown from Canada to Turkey, one suffering the gear up ‘touch & go’ on a hard runway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gTBe0FWQ18)
They have arrived here from Turkey where maintenance work will be carried out until needed for next season in Europe.
Wish I did look like Bruce!
I will admit that this is one aircaft section that I would dearly of loved to have owned (even traded my Vixen sim), and would have kept as it was.
I think the fact that it wasn’t a known flyer and has existed for so long as a cockpit section kind of lends argument to keeping it that way. I can only think of one full Gannet cockpit in existence now.
Does the bottom part still exist?
Of course I wouldn’t ever tell someone what to do with their items, but genuinely shocked to have read the above.

Below is a pic of a Forumite (who shall remain nameless) cutting it in two.
Nooooo:eek::mad:
Surely the cockpit was manageable enough as it was, it used to be trailered around to shows?
