It is the ex Tangmere, Hooton Park, somewhere in the Greater Manchester area example. Though you can now add Caernarfon to the list of previous locations as it has moved on once more.

After some negotiation, it has been acquired by The Aeroplane Collection at Hooton Park and made the journey on Friday 20th July. The aim is to use it as a travelling exhibit.

the Gannet AS centre fuselage section, which I noted there a year ago, has been moved out, but I omitted to ask where to!

I seem to remember another thread mentions it at Hooton Park.

Don’t recall anything controversial about it.

The controversy was that EBay wanted to pull the listing due to being weapons related, it went public and ChrisW subsequently appeared on BBC news to tell the story (talking to Susanna Reid, lucky so & so!).

Unfortunately I missed the rolling out and lifting the engines, the three excellent pictures below were taken by Keith Morgan who was there.

Absolutely no doubt about this at all, founder of the Royal Air Force, Lord Trenchard.
The other names mentioned are all important and heroic of course, but operated within the structure of the service set up by people like Trenchard.

It does seem a real shame to see this long term tester get cut up rather than saved for preservation, it wouldn’t seem out of place at Duxford even.

On the ASR.III and GR/MR.3 Lancasters the intake fed cooling air to the radar equipment in the fuselage.
I think the PR.1s had a similar intake, though unsure if for crew or equipment, they did operate in hot climates, I assume PA474 gained its scoop from the PR days.

Fantastic diorama/model conniefreak, does it depict a specific period?
I notice the original tower isn’t on there, would that have been just off the edge of your board, at the Seco hut end?
If you ever do build it I have the AM drawings for that tower and Seco arrangement.
