Unsure if it’s my memory, but wasn’t there something highlighted here about a ‘sexy Me-109’ part being advertised, but actually being made from a genuine bit of WWII Dornier?

There’s certainly been a few fake items passed off as genuine articles.

Lovely shots Jim, from a time well before I was born, but wish I had witnessed, thanks for sharing.

This recent thread, http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=119501 neatly illustrates the downside to not having barriers.

I would think that flight safety, personal safety, and security, coupled with the fact that there doesn’t seem to be an awful lot of respect for property these days is the reason for barriers, I think my only gripe with them is that they are often positioned too tightly to the displayed aircraft.

Ok, it’s late, but why is how he was downed that important, there was plenty of ‘friendly’ fire action?
Are you writing a book on him Andy?

Though more of a photo record of the last days of the Lightning than a statistics book, my favourite publication is Ian Blacks’ book, superb pictures giving a real feel of what it must have like to have been involved with the beast.

Is there an inference that Bader was shot down instead of having a collision? How strong is the evidence?

Like you I don’t quite understand the Bader issue here, and certainly don’t remember the thread.
How pivotal is it how he was actually downed, and what is the evidence either way?

As far as I can see he was a pilot that over came horrendous injuries (especially for the time) to get back to his passion of being a fighter pilot, and having some success, and his escape from a German prison being pretty remarkable.

Perhaps someone here can explain the contentious points clearly, without the thread nose diving?!

The Condover 13726/41 bomber satellite Watch Office has been up for sale for about five years, It’s an outstanding example of a W/O in original form, even down to the half height rendered internal walls and steel window frames.
Beside the fire tender shed, the other building with the windows in the front is a rare surviving single storey Watch Office, in this case a 17658/40 fighter satellite W/O.
Though unrealistic, it would be great to see sympathetically restored.

Very nice Baz. Begging for RAF blue, a roundel, and MkV trolly acc in tow – even if that isn’t authentic!

The sound is primarily generated from the gun ports on some of the variants, not the engine – though the 200 makes it’s own distinct noise.
There is some debate as to whether the best ‘note’ is down to the blast deflector design, though I have heard the sound from Miss D (with), and G-VETA, and some single seaters (without).
