I think the answer to your question is a most definite Yes!!:eagerness:
Would certainly be interested for the Stirling
had loads in Tesco St Neots yesterday 😀
Its ridiculous they have none at Hendon. The Jaguar schemed one would look fantastic in milestones of flight being so colourful, far more so than a grey F35 replica.
I’ve often raised this point with my contacts at RAFM, I think it’s being worked on…..although personally I’d like to see a standard Jag scheme on display.

XZ118 was the ac that ended up at Tate Modern. Sadly now saucepans
Oh how we could have done with these when we were restoring our FN5.
Any history behind any of them?
What a shame about LJ925-lots of other aircraft have come out of Norwegian lakes in excellent nick!
I know, even if only one is in half decent condition :apologetic:
ST164-25 is a Stirling part by the looks of it, I’ve seen similar parts in the 3rd photo on Stirlings too although I beleive it’s engine related so could be from any Hercules engined aircraft.

Hi Mark
good to hear from you. the only one that I think I know of is LJ925 which as you say was explored by an RAF Diving Team. IIRC the report that came back was that it had broken up on impact and that conditions were extremely poor. Anecdotally, I believe that the water was so acidic from the tannins that brass diving fittings instantly turned black!
Nonethelees, I’ll ask the question of the other team members who i’m sure will be able to give you a better answer

Surely it’s the other way round. For whatever reason a member of the staff has soured his museums reputation to a member of the public.
It’s a tough but fair fact that in ANY operation serving the public the individuals are the face of that operation, for good or ill.
That’s as may be, but what is wrong with a quiet word through email or PM to highlight a perceived problem. I’m sure that Newark would welcome personal feedback to improve their service, but airing a complaint publicly could damage the integrity of the organisation and stop people visiting and are they not the lifeblood of groups seeking to commemorate aviation history? Personally I have had nothing but positive experiences whenever I’ve visited Newark.
Edit – I see that CH has responded whilst I was slowly typing out my reply, but I think my comments still stand re post #1

I think that part 4 might be part of the air vent mounted within the gun turret perspex. There’s certainly something very similar on our FN5

I think David might have over egged it, not a double decker more like a single decker but a big enough chunk of metal whichever way you look at it:cool:
they may not necessarily be radioactive as there are also non-luminous and fluoescent instruments. If you look on the instrument (dial face or body) there will be a reference number preceded by 6A/, if you quote the reference number there should be knowledgeable people who can point you in the right direction. To be perfectly sure though, you’ll need to borrow a Geiger counter and check each one out
