He was a great patron of the armed forces and the Bomber Command memorial in particular and in that respect he will be missed.

    Couldn’t stand the BeeGees though.

    Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)

Po and his friends take on a new enemy – a peacock this time. Not as good as the first one but still very entertaining and beautifully animated.

    Uncle Buck (1989)

John Candy plays the slob of an uncle baby-sitting his nieces and nephew.
A reasonably funny John Hughes movie. Good fun.

    Faces in the Crowd (2011)

Milla Jovovich plays a serial killer’s victim who survives his attack only to be left with “face-blindness” and unable to recognize people she knows. Reasonably good idea but lacks any sort of characters. Decent enough all the same.

    Das Boot (1981)

Story of a German U-boat crew in WW2. An excellent war movie witch acts of heroism in the claustrophobic confines of the submarine. Great stuff.

Still not convinced it was him. Maybe we’ll never know.

    Marvel Avengers Assemble (2012)

Captain America, Ironman, the Incredible Hulk, Thor and the Black Widow gather to defeat an alien enemy.
One if the best films I’ve seen. Great story, awesome effects, humour, acting it’s all here. Do yourself a favour, go and see this movie.

The fully (sic)thing is all three would get exactly the same shot – how boring is that!

So you taking a photo that might be similar to someone else’s is boring is it? Right.
One might have zoomed right with a close crop, one might process the photo in monochrome, one might be using a wideangle. They may all be identical but so what?

Avatar AKA ‘when smurfs go to war’. Never seen it and don’t want to

Do you not think that your opinion on a movie might have more value if you had actually seen it?

    The Last Exorcism (2010)

A cynical preacher in the US deep South carries out one last exorcism to expose it at as a fraud. Only it isn’t. Well acted and shot (in a documentary style) but somehow lacking something. Not bad though.

    Hidden (2005)

A French couple are stalked by someone unknown, revealing old secrets. Well filmed and slow at times but compelling. In French with subtitles.

    Get Shorty (1995)

John Travolta is a racketeer heading to LA and getting involved in the film industry. Great fun with Travolta in one of his “coolest” roles.

    Super 8 (2011)

Soem teenagers making a movie accidentally film a train crash and its aftermath.
Pretty good actually and well acted by the teenage leads. Perhaps a little bit overly sentimental at the end.

Modern TV produces some fantastic drama and if you think modern sit-coms are all about bodily functions then perhaps you may be watching the wrong ones.
When the most exciting thing on 1970s TV was a dire episode of Dr Who or inane detective drama then you’ll realize how far we’ve come.
Anyone who saw “Homeland” on C4 recently will know how good modern TV can be.
