I have to say, and I fully respect those that disagree, that I think this is exactly the malaise that has taken over the UK. “It’ll be rubbish” , “It’s too expensive” “why do we want the games” etc.

Why not embrace the fact the Olympics are coming to the UK, treat it as an excuse to celebrate Britishness for all the right reasons and make it something that the UK can be proud of. Wouldn’t that be better than this perpetual talking down of everything?

Let’s face it, it wouldn’t have mattered how the tickets were allocated, there would have some problem with it, wouldn’t there?

The nadir to which threads can sometimes descend on this forum!:(

As you said so well but I think it now deserves a repeat.

Indeed, and the rate of descent can be quite terrifying as well.

Arthur a .22 will kill you as well as a Weatherby Magnum Big game bullet, big aint always best.
    Jim.

    Lincoln .7

I bow to you superior knowledge on firearms. Something I have no desire to be expert in.

If you are IN MY PROPERTY, then we play by my rules, and my rules in those circumstances are………………….THERE ARE NO RULES.

Are you really an ex-policeman? As SH has done – I’ll bow out of this discussion in the face of this sort of opinion. Very worrying.

What made me smile today? Watching a fabulous set by the Vaccines at Glastonbury on BBC3. Brilliant – restores my faith in music.

    And U2 were even better.

So instead they break into your house with a bigger gun than yours – then what?

This issue is not so widespread in the UK that it requires any change in the law.

each MP should be given a good kicking at home

    As I said…….

Who needs police, judges and juries when we could just mete out punishment on whoever we feel is a threat?

We don’t know the facts on the case in Salford and besides, any comment on that particular case shouldn’t really be allowed on a public forum at all.

I’m with you on this one. I don’t know why these things can’t be discussed in a calm way with resorting to hyperbole and keyboard heroism.
