Give them a break, cutbacks mean that KP can only afford one book covering the subject of wit and sarcasm for the Mods reference library…

Was it on loan to someone else yesterday? 😀

    Hmmm.

A classic diversionary tactic, if you ask me.

    Huh?.

For your information, I’m not suffering. My job is safe. I’m just not keen on “humour” from other’s misfortune. Even sarcasm is not funny in these situations.

You don’t know whose back yard it might be in though, do you?

I wonder what this actually means then if you decline to comment? There only a handful of houses that actually back on to the site. Is one of them yours?

I know what you’re saying but it is still very sad driving in every day past an ever dwindling car park, knowing that in a few weeks it will be closed completely. It wasn’t that long ago that it was difficult to find anywhere to park on the northside; now you’re lucky to see a car at all.

The same factory that built nearly 4000 Lancasters in 4 years will soon be forgotten about

All down to short-termism and shareholder dividends. 😡

It’s a hard old world, and no mistake.
You don’t know whose back yard it might be in though, do you?

Go on then enlighten me. You may want to add some gritty northern humour as well. I hope my sides don’t split though.

It’s incredible what conclusions can be drawn (wrongly) from a few words in a post. All I’m saying is that I have no desire to see Woodford covered in houses. I happen to work there and have done so for the last 22 years and will do for a few years to come and I would rather see the site returned to agricultural use.

I look forward to another witty reposte. (OK maybe not then)

As one of the NIMBYs myself, at least from a working point of view, why not just return the majority of the land to agricultural use, as it was before. The factory and flight sheds areas are “brown belt” but the runway area is and should remain green belt. There was planning permission requested for 1500 “affordable” homes but that has been rejected. A submission has since taken place for 300 homes. The problem is a lack of infrastructure for a large influx of families; doctors, schools, shops etc. There are plenty of other areas around Cheshire and Greater Manchester where new housing areas are more suitable and appropriate rather than bury more land under concrete.

I have to say that I struggle with this sort comment or “humour”.

Just grab a big box of popcorn, and watch the NIMBYs eat themselves.

My humour, it’s just what that area needs, a large Pikey Chav estate smack in the middle of it. This could also come from a Barrats estate of course.

I guess it’s funny as long as it isn’t in YOUR back yard eh?

I think we need to know more about this “bust stop”. One can only wonder what that might be.

Suppose its a long shot asking whether anyone has a rough idea of what sort of state shes in?

Poor I’m told. It is fenced off currently and has a damaged nosegear so it can’t be moved. It’s been outside for as long as I’ve been at Woodford (22 years) and is now green rather than white. Damned shame really.

I believe so – I don’t think they are on the flight sheds apron. I’ll only be able to see when I leave for home tonight.

Looks like PA1 (ZJ516) and PA2 (ZJ518) are next for the chop. They were towed to the southside at Woodford today.
