    I agree.
Hope that the competition will be fair.
767 has been already choosen by Italy and Japan as proof of the good quality.
KC-30 too is a respectable tanker and has the right to be evalueted fairly.

    Where’s the British proud?
In the next few years the eternal counterpart, the french navy will be superior to the RN, as well as the others armed forces.
Also Spanish Armada, the eternal rival alongside French Navy is growing well and faster.
For two centuries the greatests european navies such Armada, Royale and Dutch navy where submissed and scaried by the greatness of the proud Royal Navy.
Sad to see this great piece of history to sink…. 🙁

The french are ready to open their best bottles of Champagne, without doing nothing.

    Sounds very strange.
I can’t believe that a similar problem can occur.
May be Canada is looking for a rebate for the new Merlin? 😉

I’ve seen on a french forum that France is planning to buy more than 110 NH90. Surely more than Italy.

Cavour has 4 engines (4 LM2500) to reach the speed of 29 knots when full loaded (about 30000tons) and 31 knots when empty. Cavour can warrant the full operability to operate aircarfts even if 2 out of 4 engines are out of order. There are also 2 doesel engines.
BPE has 1 engine. The speed is 21-22 knots when operate has aircraft carrier (24000tons max in CV configuration) and 20-21 when in LPD mode (27000tons). In the event of problem to the only engine, BPE is unable to operates cause the emergency diesel engine is able to boost only at 5 knots. Good to go home.

The preferred propulsion system from the French point of view would have included the Rolls Royce MT30 marine gas turbine. However Italy pushed for license produced General Electric LM2500+. A CODAD variant may have been discussed in the initial stages, but not for quite a while now.

    Absolutly not!
French pushed for a full diesel engine.
After the rumors of a common aircraft carrier CVF/PA2, then french dropped for Rolls Royce MT30 to show ‘good action’ to UK.

Italy didn’t accept. Why to pay brits engines in an italian-french project??

If an improved EMPAR is on the drawing board, one would at least expect that IT tried to convince FR to use it on the FREMM (like they did for the engines). I have not heard any sign of that, so I doubt.

    What do u mean 7seas?
IT could developpe Empar active radar without any french support.
French want their own made Herakles radar to satisfy requirement of national radar maker even if Herakles is worst then Empar pesa or aesa radar and above all they dont want to spent a lot of money for fremm frigates as the italians will do.
The ‘placet’ of french is not necessary to Italy.

It’s worth nothing that the french choice for Fremm engines were less capable Diesel engine for a maximal speed very limited.

The last rumors say than the Italian FREMM will have an improved version of EMPAR, it will be active and the development costs are included in those of the ship.

    Seriously???
That means that new Empar will be close or better than the Sampson aesa radar?

    This rumors sounds great, yeeeeep!!!!

Gentlemen excuse me. I have an apparenty stupid question.
Where is the steel for CVF/PA2 from?
    Who made it?
    I mean the raw material.
Is it french or brits?

    Thanks a lot.

    What’s Mako?
The top, perfect, modern, multirole state of-the-art trainer made on the paper of Eads?

It’s not difficult to write top capability on the paper. The difficult is to realize and to reach the target without spending too much.
For the moment Mako never flown and doesn’t exist. Except over tons of paper of course 😀

    More problems with foreign equipment?
