Well, I am not as enthusiastic as many other people. The design looks good, it is a quantum leap in capability compared to the UH-1D. But the running costs are 5 time that of a Huey ! 😮

    Sure,
the Huey ha s a production of big numbers compared to NH90.

It’s no possible. Germany lacks of experience in carrier and navy airwing. To begin are necessary at least 20 years (a generation) with a small or an old carrier to create the competences in cv field.

If you want cheap & basic, & don’t mind slow, build a BPE. You can delete the dock if you want more planes aboard. If you want a proper pocket carrier, with better performance, & don’t mind spending more, build a Cavour derivative. Navantia & Fincantieri are both willing to licence their designs, or provide technical assistance (for a reasonable fee) to anyone wanting to build something similar. Or there are other designs available, but not yet built, e.g. from Schelde.

    Totally agree,
if u want a cheap, basic, not armed, civilian standard design build buy BPE. It’s big, flexible as lpd/lhd and sometimes carrier (very short air operations), Very cheap 400-500milion € and very slowly (21 knots max).
If you want a powerful, self defence armed (Empar+Aster15), built with robust military standard, good speed (29-30 knots) and powerful engines (4 gasturbine LM2500), build for longer stovl air operations and command (c4I), but very limited lpd capability buy the expensive Cavour (1,5 bilion €).

Who cares the speed for a stovl carrier? Is speed important for the launch of the aircrafts?

A conventional carrier of 60000tons is useless and expensive for all but USA.
Maybe something like 30000-40000 tons stovl could be interesting and a possible effort for the budget of the main navies of the world.
Considering that the total cost will rise during the works, also UK and France are not convinced of this effort.

Osprey are are based on the Gaeta class minehunters of italian navy (MMI). Some infos:

Pendolino was not italian at the time. The finnish version was the Alstom-Ferroviaria (France). Also Germans have problems with trains (many accidents).
By the way. Pendolino is a train and Minehunters are military vessels. Can’t compare them.

    I don’t understand.
    Osprey is a minehunter.
Avenger is a mine countermeasures vessel.

Both have similar electronic (Marconi) and Isotta-Fraschini engine.
    So, what’s the problem???

The USN is currently disposing of the license built Osprey class, although the older wooden clad hull MCM class is being retained.

    Sorry,
    what do u mean?

I agree. The suggestion that the anti-Israel UN is there to protect the peace and not acting as a proxy for the terrorists, is hilarious, as is the suggestion that the French will shoot at IDF aircraft. Remember, the only reason that the French force is as large as it is, is because they didn’t want the Italians in command.

    Sauron

    Exactly Sauron.
La grandeur can’t permit to the italian cousins to lead an operation where french are involved.
Noone is acting against terrorist or helping Lebanese army against Hizbollah.
It’s only a comedy made by few glory seekers countries (like mine 🙁 ).

French’s again surprised that miitary planes could fly at war?
They have Mistrale in Lebanon, but have no balls to use military force neither against Israel nor against Hizbolla. Why they joined this expedition anyway?

    Right.

    Right question Bob.
The same goes for Italians, Spanish, germas and all UN Unifil.
They can’t use their forces to disarm Hizbolla nor to stop IdF.
It’s only a waste of money.
