May be Morocco will prefere F-16 to Rafale.

Dassault Aviation to lose Rafale order in Morocco to Lockheed Martin – report

PARIS (Thomson Financial) – Morocco is likely to order US-made F-16 fighter planes instead of Rafales made by France’s Dassault Aviation, La Tribune reported, citing ‘several’ agreeing sources.

The US is said to have offered 36 F-16s made by Lockheed Martin Corp (nyse: LMT – news – people ) for less than 2 bln usd while France was proposing 18 Rafales for 2.3 bln eur, the business daily said.

In response to the US offer, the French authorities amended their proposal to 12 Rafales and 12 Mirages or 24 Rafales for 2 bln eur, but sources are not hopeful that France will get the order, according to the report.

Until recently, the French side was hopeful that the first Rafale export contract could be signed during a visit by President Nicolas Sarkozy to Morocco scheduled for next month, the newspaper added.

    2 bln USD / 36 F16= 55,5 milion $ at piece.
    2.3 bln €= 3.24 bln USD (today 1€=1.4US$)
    3.24 bln USD / 24 Rafale = 135 milion $ at piece.

So, a Rafale it costs far more than 2 times a F16 today for a friend and customer launch country……..

    TMor, the typhoon takes off in 12 seconds, you can use the little video timer at the bottom to accurately see (from brakes off). Also it does accelerate with a o.k climb angle, the runway being tilted on a small hill hides this. Then climbs ABSOLUTELY VERTICAL . And the cloud base seems not low at all. I have found a nice video for you;

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=aZsUntlm2Pw—-Rafale vid

The rafale takes off in 17 seconds, with a similar loudout, and certainly does not go straight up into the vertical after takeoff. I admit he does not accelerate down the runway as much as the typhoon, 😉 but the typhoon seems a hell of alot more impressive 😀

What I meant by rival planes is on QRA. Such as F-15’s or Rafale’s or F-16’s, can they get to the Interception as fast as the typhoon? What I am basically saying is this plane the new LIGHTNING in QRA.:D

    Impressive video too
    😀

Someone knows how long was the runaway needed to take off in the video?

    Hi all

    Anyone know the climb rate of the typhoon, or any time to height recordings. Just watched a video;

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hhE07FHV1MM

Really is very impressive. 😮 The fact that it’s carrying 2 tanks, 2 ASRAAM, and 4 AMRAAM and still can point straight up I believe is remarkable. Brings me to the question in QRA status, does it have a T/W ratio of greater than 1 to 1, when loaded with the standard QRA loadout? Also can any other fighter match this type of performance, not only when clean but loaded aswell?

    will 😎

    😮 😮

    Impressive.
    Great Typhoon!!!!

How many QRA fighters base are there in Uk, Spain or France?
    How long was the runaway?

I believe this video is dedicated to whom that doesn’t trust the Typhoon
potentiality or gelous rivals planes 😀

Officially it’s a “helicopter destroyer”, maybe refered to as a “through-deck” variant.

But to be quite honest I’m not sure they have to try to sell it as anything in particular. The public isn’t that opposed to projects like this. If Japan started building 40,000+ tonne aircraft carriers that might cause real opposition. But a helicopter carrier? Not from what I’ve heard from my friends there.

Officially also the actual italian aircraft carrier in 1984 was launched as ‘helicopter destroyer ASW’. Late soon in 1990 appearad the last (18th) AV8B+ in MMI and removing missiles GG became officially ITS CVS (CV Stovl) ‘Giuseppe Garibaldi’ (C551).
May be tha Japanese are the same path…

    To whom understand french.

The proof that there is something strange.
The same source report 2 differents price for the Horizon:

Here is 2.7 bilions € for 2 Horizons:
En définitive, le coût des deux frégates françaises, les Forbin et Chevalier Paul, atteint 1.9 milliard d’euros, auquel il faut ajouter le coût du système d’armes. La Marine nationale estimant le budget total à 2.7 milliards d’euros, le prix de ce dernier serait donc d’environ 800 millions d’euros

    http://www.meretmarine.com/article.cfm?id=105325

    Here is 1.6 bilion €. There’s written 800 milion € at unit:

La commande de la troisième Horizon était d’ailleurs prévue dans la loi de programmation 2003-2008. Le coût très élevé de ces navires (800 millions d’euros pièce) est la raison principale de cet abandon.

Tmor, could u help us to translate from french to english?
    Thanks.

The problem is to find a suitable aircrafts. New generation aircrafts are heavier than the old one. So the new aircrafts need more capable catapults like the new 90mt (lenght).
They are more expensive to operate with catapults, steam production and arresting gears.
For modern aircrafts (F18/F35C/E2D) a carrier like CdG is the minimum. It’s not a case if the angled deck of CdG has been prolonged of 4 mt to opearate the E2C.
Due to electronic equipment and military standards, both necessary if a navy wants to have a strong and secure warship that it’s planned to stay 30 years in service and in war zone capable to protect the crew and the airwing, the final costs of Cavour it’s been 1.5 bilions € 😮 😮
A Cavour or something similar to a carrier of 30000 tons (I suppose 250×45 mt) with angled deck, catapults and arresting gear will be very expensive and not enough cost/effective.
So the minimum will be something as the new indian IDS or CdG.

Hay that clown we have as a Federal treasurer – Peter Costello, announced that the Australian Government (or ‘I’ as he likes to say!) has a surplus of $17 Billion dollars
America could give us a carrier for one $ dollar and we would stuff it up or use it as the largest helicopter carrier in the world. For we have a few helicopters, and purchasing carrier aircraft would be too expensive.
But then again the Australian Government would purchase French Rafals, just so we would have to carry out a lengthy and expensive overhaul of the ship to operate them!

    Cynical I know!
    But Australian I am!

    Pioneer

Australia and Usa have good relations, so USNavy could give an old carrier and some F18 (You already have some in service). It will be cheaper and very convenient.
You have money+You have F-18+ You’ll have brand new escort Aegis frigates, so it lacks only a carrier to complete the naval group.

Is the photo of the EF-2000 Typhoon intercepting the Russian BEAR for real, or is it Photoshop?

The reason that I ask, is due to the fact that the so-called ‘Russian BEAR still has the old Soviet red star on its tail?

    Regards
    Pioneer

According to Wiki, TU-95 Bear will be in duty til 2040…..

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tu-95

    Maiden flight November 12, 1952
    Introduced 1956
The Tu-95 is still in service, as of 2007, and expected to remain so with the Russian Air Force until at least 2040.

What if a B-52 Stratofortress does the same close to russian airspace?
Which reaction would be from Russian Air Force?
