    You forgot the MOST IMPORTANT SQUADRON in FAB. The infamous GTE, the one the politians use to travel for free.

    The brazilian military is a joke. PROSUPER just went to hell, the Navy will acquire used frigates instead of new ones.

    There are rumours from well placed sources that FAB is now looking for used F-16 Block 40 to replace the Mirage 2000. After 17 YEARS, the brazilians politians weren´t able to choose a fighter.

    The Army has ammunition for less than 1 HOUR of fight. They bought some old Guepards AAA from Germany with ammunition to even less time. No ammunition for basic training and I mean 5.56 and 7.62. Not to mention food for the troops.

    Brazil maybe big but it´s weak.

    A bit odd to buy half a dozen fighters and then retire them 7 years later, i think.

    Not if are the one receveing bribes. Mr. Lula´s party made a great deal with France. Obsolet fighters, submarines and overpriced helicopters.

    Why not just lease if its an interim solution ?

    Those fighters supposed to be the interim solution.:confused:. Now only god knows what they will do, perhaps F-5 Forever.

    Situação dos navios escolta da MB

    Alexandre Galante

    No papel, a Esquadra tem 14 navios-escolta. A realidade é:
    ■Corvetas Classe “Inhaúma”: Nenhuma operacional;
    ■Corveta “Barroso”: Navio com maior índice operacional (Operando praticamente sem restrições);
    ■Fragatas Classe “Greenhalgh”: Só uma está operacional e mesmo assim, com restrições;
    ■Fragatas Classe “Niterói”: Uma sendo canibalizada, uma inoperante e 4 operando com diferentes níveis de restrições.

    Ou seja, dos 14 escoltas, somente 6 estão operacionais e destes, apenas a “Barroso” está próxima do 100%.

    Querem submarino de propulsão nuclear, Navios-aeródromo, Segunda Esquadra, 30 escoltas….

    Que mundo essa gente vive? Com certeza não estão no dia a dia da MB.

    Could you please tell where was the mighty Brazilian Navy then?

    Perhaps:

    A Marinha chegou a comunicar a seus funcionários que não precisariam mais trabalhar às sextas-feiras. Culpa do superávit primário, explicava o comando em nota distribuída internamente na última segunda. A Esquadra, digamos assim, havia sido atingida pelo corte de gastos necessário para atingir a meta de economia do setor público, o tal superávit primário.

    Talk is cheap my friend. I´m sure those brazilian´s navy officers will have a lot to talk about. How they are designing a nuclear submarine and they will buid a lot more in the future(Por sinal a piada é que o Brazil é o país do futuro só que este futuro nunca chega). That the PROSUPER program states they will build two nuclear aircraft carriers:sleeping: blá, blá, blá. Como diz o velhu ditado: o papel aceita qualquer palavra.

    Any country with a large cost line needs a workable fleet for home waters defence it is a question patrolling said waters for a number of reasons (area control, piracy, anti-drug and search and rescue )

    Something that the Brazilian Navy is not capable to do.

    Come to think of it. Brazil should take the Falklands 😀

    I´m wondering how they will do this. A few months ago, a brazilian army general revealed to the press that the army had ammunition for no more than ONE HOUR of combat. They bought a few Guepards from Germany with a patetic quantity of ammunition, perhaps enough to anounce its presence just to be blow up by Brimstones.
    Remember the rescue operations of the Air France Flight AF-447? The Brazilian Navy spent most of its fuel reserves to conduce the rescue operation. The result was that the majority of the navy spent the rest of the year on harbour. Not to mention that the brazilian navy is trash, no air-defenses worth to mention.
    Let´s see the Air Force. It´s widely know that only GTA(VIP transportation) are getting enough flight hours. Fighter pilots can only dream about fliyng that much. I believe it´s correct to assume they fly less than 150 hours a year, just enough to remember how to take-off an land. They plan to buy 36 fighter aircrafts but only 28 BVR missiles (What a Joke):stupid:, less than a missile for aircraft. Until today the air force has no anti-ship missile in its inventory.

    They can go to a war against UK, but may advice is to not forget the white flag. They will need it.

    Just for the benefit of those who aren’t aware, what model of assault rifle do the “rebel side” generally use? They don’t look like a western design to me…

    every single ‘hot spot’ in the world is full of cold war era ex Soviet weapons, but I guess it’s easier to point the finger elsewhere than realise that the responsibility for arming both sides lies closer to home.

    Here´s a nice example of western weapons used in Syria.

    The best way to prepare the 3rd World War (Islam vs everybody else) is to let the Islamists ruin a maximum of Countries and show their natural tendencies to oppression . Then , the West will hit hard on them once for all .

    Cheers .

    Why wait. Let´s blow up Saudi Arabia and solve the problem once for all. The terrorists will loose their major sponsors and the world will be a much safer place to live, but we can´t do that because Saudi Arabia is rulled by an “enlightened monarch” not a blood thirsty dictator. He sells cheap and good oil and buy billions of dollars in weapons each year. Who cares if he give millions of dollars to terrorist organizations around the world.

    I don´t understand IAF. They are developing a transport airplane with Russia in the same category of the ones from Embraer(KC-390) and Lockheed(C-130). The other planes are smaller like C-27J and Casa C-295. What´s the reason for this procurement?

    It´s Israel helping its agents acting in Syria. The excuse is the destruction of Sa-17.

    the price is rather hefty though… lots of commissions all round!

    in 2008 Brazil paid about $150M for 12 Mi35M4s (unit flyaway cost $12.5M) whilst the Iraqis are $215M for 6 (unit flyaway cost $36M)… that’s 300% more than the brazilian helo… OK there would have been some inflation in the intervening period.. but not this much!

    Brazil paid US$ 363,9 million for 12 Mi-35M. The source is the Brazilian Ministry of Defense.

    Someone is trying to justifie the purchase of Patriots missiles from U.S., that´s all.
    They are trying to recreate the image of the big bad red bear just to grab a billion dollar deal.

    It´s the same thing they do in the middle east creating the false image of an nuclear Iran atacking the entire world with Scud missiles and selling billions of dollars to fools like Saudi Arabia(I stop counting a long time ago how much this dictatorship spent on U.S. made armaments in the last two years. I think even SIPRI os lost by now), Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrein, Turkey etc.

    The deal between Marsh Aviation and the Brazilian Navy is on hold by now because Marsh Aviation sold spare parts to Venezuela between 2005 and 2008 violating U.S. law (Arms Export Control Act) and the Department of State frozen all military deals of the company.
    The brazilians aren´t happy with this because they sent personal(with family) to U.S. be trained by Marsh and they´re are doing nothing there costing more money to the Brazilian Navy than expected.
