Solo Pilot B17

This can be done and in 1981 a Bolivian Pilot single handedly brought a Weary Meat Hauler B17 from La Paz Bolivia to March AFB Museum – Riverside California – that is some Airmanship considering the distance – he then turned around and flew back a swapper – C54 back to Bolivia .

My vet freind who was waist gunner on the Boeing Belle – 100th BG said Memphis Belle was “Too much Hollywood ” – I guess that says it all , great visuals and music though

Marinell – Artists impression

Got round to doing it – I like painting Mustangs and Metal more and more !
I guess Marinell was shot down in June / July 44 ? So maybe she wouldn’t ave seen the winter of 44-45

Just finished this one of a Mustang currently being rebuilt in Norfolk , – hadn’t quite finished it to my satisfaction but took it to our local Aviation Artists meeting last night (Manchester) ,will be great to see it up in the air

Thanks Paul – superb sketch – that pic has a lot of movement in it . I Liked Robert Karrs work too -very good and he won an award with the FW190

Marinell

Was pleased to see the shots in Flypast of Marinells progress – i really like the red and white chquerboard cowling -I will try and do an artists impression, -will be awesome to have two Mustangs at Hardwick -is someone going to fly Janie while Maurice flies Marinell ?-that will be a great photo

Thanks Martin – the one in SAB Markings is a hard to find shot – i like this color scheme very much indeed ,might do a painting of it someday

Bolivian B17’s + Paul Allen’s B17E

Any news on how the restoration of Paul Allen’s B17 E is going on up in Arlington Washington State USA ? – I read he was having it re skinned to correct OR Improve on work done by the Whittington Bros

Some speculation about what color scheme he will adopt when its done ?

Rumor has it that Fuddy Duddy (B-17G 44-83563) has been sold and will soon be based at John Wayne Airport in Southern California. For those of us on the west coast lets hope it is true!
