    filming

Yes – scanned from a Dutch newspaper which was reporting the filming .
Something dramatic about Sally B trailing smoke – maybe short bursts only considering the price of diesel 😮

This afternoon (Sep 25th) Boeing B-17G G-BEDF “Sally B” arrived at Groningen Airport Eelde. The aircraft is supposed to take part in a film shoot above Giethoorn tomorrow. Also Harvard N13FY arrived at Eelde in a fake Luftwaffe c/s. The film is “Blackbook” by Paul Verhoeven. More info and photo’s can be found at http://www.geas-web.nl

    Bluenose A2’s

They seem a bit expensive at over 400 quid but certainly the attention to detail looks second to none – looks like a bloke in South Carolina will be getting one !!!.I like the period art on the ad very much

I wonder if they work out a bit cheaper if bought in the US ?

    Beat

Doesnt show the beat up at Mildenhall – just shows the 5 B17’s arriving at Binbrook . The Narration by the extras was unremarkable but of course their conribution helped make the movie – it must have been an amazing deal to be involved in that movie – how many hours did you get on B17 ‘s

some pretty amazing shots and comments on the previous Filming MB thread

    from one who was there

Well my pal in Baltimmore who worked there for many years tells me ..

“That’s the “Baltimore” on the apron, probably just rolled out of “C” Building on the right where it was assembled. At the extreme right, just under the left wing, is a B-26 with the cowling in it’s original small-airscoop configuration. I’d say this pic was taken about 1939. The apron is bounded on three sides by “A”, “B” and “C” Buildings.

The high-bay building behind the a/c is “B” building, also called the “Navy Building”. It was erected specifically for the manufacture of the PBM flying boat patrol bombers. “A” building (not shown) was the first building erected on the site in 1929. ”

Hope this helps clarify the situation …go4b17
