    Kingman

If you pass through Kingman you may as well stop for half an hour at the Local Museum of Culture ( or somethin like that name ) – it has a small display dedicated to the great silver fleet that was smelted down at Kingman – couple of nose art panels and a cabinet with a few artefacts – not a lot but if you like 17’s worthwile .

One word of warning – outside that Museum are two Cactus Bushes – one of which yours truly walked into !! – I had a whole bunch of needles stuck in my arm – very painful indeed !! 😮

    vid

I have a copy and I agree with Propstrike that the extras narrating on the video is unremarkable and ? needed to be included . It has an amateurish feel to it but there are some good shots of the 17’s flying over some pretty local scenery doing circuits which I presume was for the Opening Control Tower scene .No Air to Air but it does show a 17 Firing 50 CAL blanks from the Left Waist whilst makin a low pass …cool !!

Shows the arrival of 5 17’s from Duxford – Sally B included trailing intermitent smoke -that also is a good scene . I will be getting the remastered original Wyler Doc on DVD – Already seen that and it is very cool .

Man – that looks simply Heavenly – not just the alps but also 4 shiny P51’s in that environment .I bet those Pilots look back on that experience as one of the “high points” of their lives

any color shots of the same idea ?

i think the word Majestic covers it maybe !!

    Mustang Roundup

Thanks for the info Martin – if its June next year maybe i can go – its very, very tempting . I have 40,000 miles on Continental to use so I may just use it for that .

i presume of course you are going !!

pity you have so few Mustang relics remaining in Switzerland – The idea of a mustang amongst the Alps sounds just stunning

    Have a good one .Ron

    Hidden Mustang Fleet

Yeah – Happy Birthday Martin – hope you got time out of your busy schedule to have some fun and celebrate . Are you going to the Mustang Gathering this Year in Nevada – i cant wait to hear the stories and see the shots from that event .

Wonder if there are any Mustangs hidden in the depths of Swiss Lakes – i know several 17’s ditched in the lakes

    Have a great day ..Ron

    Re Shots

Man – these are just great shots from that era – great thing about this hobby is the number of shots taken and preserved , they really are priceless . Another thing is the calibre of those Men and of course the beautiful P51 !!
