I notice my favourite a/c on the circuit is out for this year. Any idea whats up with her?
Perhaps she’s going to Afghanistan to make up the shortage of front line aircraft caused by yet another round of defence cuts!
I understand today that the A400M in RAF service will be known as ATLAS!
Why not phone the contractor at Hixon? After all they should know. Or the Wiltshire police who escort it to the M4
I agree photo 2 certainly looks like the fuselage of a Cadet or Grunau Baby fuselage.
The second aircraft to leave Lyneham went past the main gate at walking pace at 07.55 today.
Circus 6
I agree fully. You would have thought that UKPLC would have learnt from the Nimrod AEW3 debacle. The original Nimrods were great aircraft. Sadly the name has been tarnished by AEW3 and now MR4.
Buy off the shelf, at least it stands a chance of entering service and future generations will then have aircraft to preserve.
The first of 3 going to Hixon. Not sure what they are going to do with them – probably scrap. Its the same company that had some wessex from Shawbury.
I hope by tanker it means C1K. However I am gratefull that one is being saved at all with the current financial climate which the MOD is facing.
There is indeed a C-47 at Lyneham. Its owned by the Air Despatch Association. One hopes it will go to Brize when 47 Air Despatch go there. But who knows. So far I have not heard anything.
Have a look at this link for a Hooten Park built T.21:

Great news. However it does show the sorry state the MOD is in when it is not capable of moving the aircraft itself.
Yes, I’m up for it.
Its well worth the visit!
No. To the best of my knowledge the other one was BGA2767 / ELH. Formerly RAFGSA 314.
