Janie,
I am sure that he would be delighted, I will send him an e mail and PM you as soon as I hear from him. He may on the other hand see this.

Ground shot for MkV.
Regarding the Irish colours I have no doubt that Declan would have pushed all the right buttons and cleared it with the Air Corps. Nice to see the the Chippie in its service colours, many thanks for posting.
Tony K
Is that right?
I have for that date GW&S Dragon G-ACPY shot down by a He111 that was in the area, all six souls lost, the five passengers all coming from the same family.
It seems a particularly harsh attack.
Yes on the face of it, it does
The aircraft was a He 111 From KG28 based at Nantes, it was tasked to attack the aircraft carrier HMS Indomitable at Barrow on Furness, but due to weather conditions received a recall. It was during its return flight that it glimpsed a camouflaged aircraft emerging from low cloud and immediately opened fire. I understand that the aircraft commander Lt zur See Klenck did in fact radio in clear on realising what had happened.
Anyone know the identity of the Heinkel and the rest of the crew ?

^flagged to mods. Back to Canberras…
Edit; offending article removed. Not your post Mr Kearns!
OMG nobody calls me Mr Kearns that was my father! I’m Tony;)
Am I off topic and in trouble?
Tony K
Gentlemen, Gentlermen You can’t fight here…….This is the War Room!:D
Tony K
Yep, that could be the one alright. Thanks Roobarb.
Tony K
Thanks again Janie, the word coming back seems to indicate a black logo.
Kind regards,
Tony K
Thanks Janie and Bruce for your efforts.
The Irish Air Corps took delivery of 12 Chipmunks in 1952, all had the badge at that time but in 1955/56 the colour scheme changed. Pictures of that period are scarce to say the least. Janie I am of the opinion that the badge suggested and posted by JT442 is the nearest, except I am not sure if the word Canada is included.
I often wonder does the good Lord send me these problems to test me?
Tony K
Thanks Amorak, but that is not really what I am looking for.
JT442 thanks for that good suggestion.
Calling Bruce, calling Bruce need help, are you receiving me, over:D
Tony K
Many thanks for that JT442.
Tony K
Thanks again to all, James an e mail has been sent.
Tony K
Thanks to all for your input, the idea arises as a Fairey Battle used as a target tug by the Irish Air Corps had a Donald Duck towing a target painted on the nose. If a profile was printed in a magazine or book would this rise the ire of the mickey mouse organisation, they say he has a bite !
Tony K
Many thanks Capt Bergam for your post, my son in law received the attached cutting from a friend in Newmarket. But it is great to hear it straight from someone involved and did such a great job in avoiding loss of life.
Tony K
Obviously involved in some very dirty operations!
Like Lorna Doon, nothing doon!
