    Hi.
Sunderland L2158 landed at Skerries Co Dublin on 3 Sept 1939.
Sunderland N9023 landed in Dingle Bay, County Kerry on 14 Sept 1939.
Both of these aircraft were Aluminium/Silver.
N9023 at that time was with 228Sqn.
Sorry if this adds to the confusion!
    Regards

Stroke city was hit as well wasnt it? Think there were a few killed ?

That was on 15/16 April, a single aircraft dropped a parachute mine 12 to 15 killed depending on the sources.

Ah…begorrah! You can never be too sure to be sure to be sure.:D

Ah Holy God Almighty and His Blessed mother Andy sor, that German bomber that would be after be crashing in Donegal, never crashed atall atall.

Belfast was attacked 4/5 th May 1941 and a German aircraft is believed to have jettisioned bombs near Malin Head and in the sea west of Malin Head.
On the other hand two Coastal Command Liberators 59 Sqn. FL989 and FL990 crashed on the same day 19 June 1944 killing all crew, one at Glengad and the other nearby at Shroove. Soooo is it possible that the bomb was the property of His Majesty? Need the experts here!
Good luck Good luck ti yis all.:D

It was Brendan Gleeson, who I have a lot of respect for as an actor (as opposed to many today who are celebrities first and actors second). I must admit I was surprised at the choice of Gleeson to play Churchill, especially as he is from Dublin.

I’ve yet to watch ‘Into the Storm’.

Let’s hope Mr Homewood has checked up on ” the new GUY” Brendan Gleeson of whom he has never heard of. As PaulR mentions he is highly regarded in the States as well as Ireland, have you never heard of the film In Bruges?

CD…surprised at Gleeson playing Churchill? you should hear him with his Dublin accent, it’s nearly as good as mine!

Michel, you are welcome. The three items in Dave’s pictures are no longer in those locations. The engine is at O’Connors in Cloghane the wing piece is ( or was ) down in the valley on one of my trips there. If you should get to O’Connors and meet Sean O’Dowd tell him I said HELLO and that we want the Sam Maguire back (He will know what I mean )
    Enjoy your trip

Irish Air Corps Vampire 191 has been restored and is now in the Air Corps Museum at Baldonnel looking in excellent condition.
The four Vampires on the tarmac dates from during service in the 1960’s.
