Yeltsin was a drunken fool who was not that popular in Russia by the end of his term in office.

Oh and of course Gorbachev, Bush the Elder., Thatcher, Blair and Bush the Younger were continously popular, from start to finish:rolleyes:

Remember, all or almost all political careers end in failure.

You seem very anti-western Garry. That of course is your choice. However, the Soviets consumed thier fair share of the worlds resources too. Those Soviet / Russian coal mines, oil wells, gas pipelines and nuclear power stations were not developed for fun you know.

A tad harsh….Stallone’s best films, Rambo First Blood and Copland were pretty good.

I do think Die Hard 4 is perhaps one Die Hard too many though….

Also heard that Britain wanted to borrow E3 Sentry’s but the US declined to to lack of British air to air assets (i.e. no Phantoms. F-14,s etc.)

I don’t think he comes across quite as bad as some of you are suggesting. Sure, hes no great speaker, Clinton was always going to be a hard act to follow.

However, those Americans who voted Bush in knew what they were getting. The fact that he has a somewhat nervous, stuttering style of speaking endeared hime to a wide group of U.S. voters who perhaps saw him as more real and “approachable” in some ways.
