How about bringing back old RAF Phantom FGR.2’s?

Unless you want to put the Phantom back into production, in a Typhoon, Rafale, F-22 and Su-30 age.

Sorry, all RAF phantoms were scrapped years agp apart from those I guess which are in museums.

I dont think any one is saying “things were better when I were a lad”, certainly not I.

The biggest problem I see for TV is not bad language, but the lack of imagination, vision and daring. Too many programs look and feel the same, often with the same presenters.

You’re probably right Phantom. The F-105 should be compared to the Su-7 and the F-106 to the Su-15 in my view….

Also I don’t fancy the round trip to the target couped up in a fighter cockpit

Hmmm…what about the Libyan airstrikes in 1986 (Operation El Dorado Canyon)? Must have been a 2500 – 3000 mile trip there and the same back!!! The F-111 had a “fighter” style cockpit with no toilet facilities;)

Did the Sea vixen navigator not sit in an enclosed compartment next to the pilot called a “coal hole”? Must have been odd not to have a view outside….

Lets see what happens next….here’s my prediction. When Goody gets evicted, perhaps tonight, she’ll write a tacky article a week later in The Sun, People, News of the World or The Daily Star, “Jade Goody, my side of the story, exclusive”
read it only in the Sun “we love it”. Yeah, right!!!!

By the way, the public are being keps at arms length lest Goody gets shouted at, molested or eggs thrown at her.:) 😀

The above comments have stolen a lot of my thunder.

However, one is reminded of a scene from Star Wars. Yes, Star Wars, stay with me….:p

Remember the scene where Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan are aboard the Millenium Falcon when it has been caught by the Death Star. Solo says something like “we’re gonna get ourselves killed following this foolish old man” Obi Wan retorts “who’s the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?”

And that sums up reality and celeb TV. We can call the likes of Jade Goody thick, untalented and so on. However, what does that say about those of us who watch this dross. What does it say when Goody has made anything from £1m – £8m (est)? She has not printed this money herself. The good ol’ british public has put her on this pedastal by reading her naff articles, her “excercise” DVD’s (liposuction) and her fragrance (which has been taken off the shelves I believe).

No wonder some kids see being a “celeb” as a peice of cake where all you need to be is a mouth on legs or to prostitute yourself in every which way possible. Sad.

The state of British TV is being made considerably worse by celeb / reality tat. How many have there been now??? In addition to BB and Celeb BB, we’ve had Survivor, I’m a Celebrity, get me out Of Here, Hells Kitchen, Dancing on Ice, Strictly come Dancing, Soapstar Superstar, Fame Academy, X-Factor, Pop Idol, American idol, Pop Star, Celeb X-Factor, The Farm and so on….

The problem with such progs is not just the poor quality. There are two other symptoms.

Firstly, it shows TV execs have less imagination than my left foot. Most of these progs copy one another to such an extent that there is no point watching TV any more on certain days, esp on Saturdays. One Saturday a few weeks ago, there were 3 reality / celeb shows on ITV, BBC1 and CH4.
It must be a low point for budding script writers with original formats……

What makes these progs worse is that you cannot get away from them. Even without the current controversy, CH4’s BB gets far too much coverage. Thje BBC and ITV talk about them. The BBC talks about ITV’s I’m a celeb and ITV talks about BBC 1’s Strictly come Dancing. Saturation coverage, even if you do decide to switch channels. Turn the TV off and its on the radio and the internet. Its like walking in dog krap. No matter how much you scrape you boots on the grass, the smell still lingers!!!

This crap is the sort of thing that Chris Tarrant used to ridicule on one of his TV shows ,cant think which one, apparently it was all down to those weird Japanese, South American, North American or Europeans with their nonsensical ideas of entertainment …well its been here for a while now and its only getting worse

Absolutely!!! Britain often laughs at the U.S. and Australia for thier lack of culture. Now the boots on the other foot!!!

Remember when Jerry springer first aired on british TV around 10 or 12 years ago? See how people said things like “I’m glad British television has not sunk to such depths” Jeremy Kyle, Vanessa or Trisha anyone?????

Of course, we have to look at other areas other than just BB when it comes to bullying. Look at the trio of Ramsey, Sugar and Cowell with thier shouty swearing, agressive posturing and snyde put downs respectively. Lets not forget, there programs have made these millionaires even more millions by virtue of their bullying, rudeness and potty mouths.

I suspect the number of people phoning up to complain about BB are not ALL complaining about racism. More likely, this is the method some are using to give reality / celeb TV a kicking. The best way is to turn the TV off, and stop buying into this cheap, tacky instant / has been “celebrity” culture….

You know, I love the Munsters as well as The Phil silvers Show, Car 54 Where are You?, The Addams Family and The Beverly Hillbillies. Something about those mid 50’s – early 60’s US comedy shows, even though before my trime.
