[QUOTE]Looking in to refining old cooking oil from the local takeaways.Only draw back i can see is the car smelling like chicken biryani.
From what I gather, the main problem with the above solution is that you’ll still have to pay the current rate of fuel tax on top of the cheap cooking oil. I guess this would apply even if you could run your vehicle on cheap cola or water…..

For Nato:
F-111. Not around in massive numbers. HOWEVER, its cobination of sheer range and all weather capapbility made it a very dangerous weapon system.
A-6E. As above.
Tornado IDS / GR1. The same as F-111 and A-6E. If enough airfields could survive, it could have been a very dangerous beast. One of the few true all weather attackers in the 80’s. Also available in greater no’s than the F-111. Casualty rates would have been high though…
F-15. Its reputation proceeded it. Major fear factor. Say no more….
F-4 / F-5 / F-104 / F-16. Made up the numbers and swelled the ranks. F-16 could of course be the major “mud mover” for NATO.
For Warpac / Soviet U:
Mig 23. Even though the Mig-21 seems to be more highly rated by many on these fora, the Mig 23 was the first really useful dual role fighter. Had BVR capapbiliy and was around in decent numbers.
SU-27. Not the most numerous warpac fighter. However, potentially the most dangerous. An equal in most respects to the F-15, yet an unknown quantity until the early 1990’s. Fear of the unknown. NATo pilots would nt know what to expect.
Mig – 29. Similar to SU-27. Very dangeroug dogfighter. Could have made life hell for NATO pilots who got too close.
Mig-21. Helped make up the numbers.
It was a one off. I think it was a Fly – by – Wire demonstrator???? Correct if wrong.
[QUOTE]B-52 boring? With 8 smoky loud engines, and mistakable sound, and a vertical tail that seems to never end I fail to see how the B-52 could be considered boring.
Here, Here!!!
plawolf, no offence meant. 🙂
I like the B-52 a lot. If only for it’s longevity. I for one want to see how long it can go on. 2040 (or there abouts) seems a trifle optomistic to me.
Besides, how many 8 engined monsters do you see nowadays???
plawolf – how dare you say the BUFF is a boring plane??? A true king of the skies, like the TU-95. Types we’ll not see aver again once they’re retired.
Another point. Would you have an UCAV piloted / operated by a USN or RAF pilot with 18 years experience flying F-14’s, F-18’s, S-3’s, Tornados, and Harriers or a 16 year old who’s a whizz on every flight sim game going?
No Col Tomb? I read somewhere that Tomb was possibly several pilots who showed above average skill / luck and thus represented a greater theat to USN pilots than the bog standard NVAF pilot.
