so in a nutshell i wholeheartedley promote the electric car to everyone !!

mainly because we would still need oil for practicaly everything around us

but my main considdering factor would be petrol would then become a by product less demand would make it cheaper

leaving it for those that like proper cars and motorcycles !!

and you can bet your life the day your electric car breaks down or runs out of charge in the middle of nowhere ( it never happens near a charging socket !! ) then a good old deisel recovery truck will collect it !!

The internal combustion engine has had decades of research, development and refinement to get it where it is today. However, even though you are removing petrol or diesel as a fuel, you still need oil-based products for lightweight plastics and for lubricants as well as limited amounts of hard to obtain precious metals.

The electric car is just in its infancy. It sounds good, but it will not change the increasingly oil dependant world.

quite correct !! but oil goes far further than mereley plastics etc

for each barrel of oil only half is used as fuel the rest is used in the following ( and a lot of these will probably suprise some )

That’s it in then – a motorbike caught fire – sounds like batteries are very hazardous. We’d better stop using them in our PCs, cameras, aeroplanes, cars…. actually pretty much everything.

have you ever actualy looked into the areas where these batteries are actualy produced ??

for miles around there is very little vegetation , and most watercourses are barron of life

and how green are electric cars ??

eventualy the charge will run out so you will need to plug it in the end result is a power station which either burns fossil fuels , is nuclear or an alledged green alternative

batteries in small groupings are ok but we are talking large groups and tightly packed and to provide the same zip a fuel engine will will generate terrific heat so there’s another drawback ( fine in winter ) but do you realy want to be sitting on top of them in a heatwave ??

the hydrogen car would make more sense but then comes the question

what impact would there be if everyones tanks were filled with concentrated natural ellements

the only surefire way of being green is either walking or cycling

if you want to push your foot down and go there are always going to be environmental consequences !!

a very serious potential saftey problem was braught to light regarding electric powered vehicles this week

an electric racing motorcycle caught fire in the pit area

due to the fact of the required tight packing of the batteries one motorcycle took 16 fire extinguishers to bring it under control ( whilst it was also spewing out highly poisonous fumes )

marshals recconed a normal fuel fire would be braught under control with 1 extinguisher

there is very little remaining of the bike what isn’t burnt is melted

imagine it on the scale of a car !! not for me thanks !!

what you miss is the cars you mention are ten a penny on the continent hell germany uses mercs as taxi cabs

what often isnt mentioned is although cheaper paid workers they do in fact realise they have to put in the hours to get paid

ask the british to do unsociable hours or get away from 9-5 and a big percentage whine to high heaven

the fact they are at car boots prooves they are either 1 trying to make extra cash or 2 are spending their own money instead of being in stores maxing out the credit card

the trouble is most uk folks have spent the last couple of decades funding lifestyles they don’t actualy fall into with other peoples money now the piper has come to call and banks have made it harder all hell has broke loose

so what if they have nice cars ( most will have worked damned hard for them ) a foreign concept to us british as we have had too many good decades

believing we are still a rich nation shows how deluded some are

a rich nation has not sold off all its gold reserves at the lowest pawnbroker rate and is still borrowing hand over fist faster than it can pay it back !!

the fact is what i have said is presently what is happening

    we can either

A do the traditional british action of burying our heads in the sand and strike

    or

B embrace it as it is going to happen and salvage the best we can out of it

we have to accept we are no longer the rich nation we once were

we have to accept down grades in lifestyles

i would dearly love to have the pay i was on 15yrs ago ( twice what i get now ) but circumstances change

if you only get so much money comming into a house each month you have to cut your cloth accordingly

you cancel all but the most important things to keep your home afloat

or say you got your way with pensions , the money still has to come from somewhere ( redundancy is usualy the next option ” i’ve been through it ” )

wichever way you look at it at present the situation is unsustainable

admited by the union yesterday ( but they are still fighting )

in my experience unions continued fighting in situations like this eventualy leads to innevitable redundencies

    Edited, CoC Rule 15

the same reason they are here !!

what work there is there isn’t the best conditions

a phrase was used about a constant whinger i work with from a polish girl

” if he thinks things are so bad here he should try working ( or trying to get it ) where i come from ! “

she has strived to teach herself english and does a lot better than some of the british i view on jeremy kyle ( or even down my own high st )

compare that to ex pats in spain still shouting ” two pints of larger stavros !! “

back up again, saw it a while ago and then it was taken down, just watching the last bit is hard enough but strangely being in a hot air balloon doesn’t worry me at all

it is indeed a strange known psychological thing ( acrophobia , correct name for fear og heights )

only effect you if it is something attatched to the ground

most can go up in an aircraft without even twitching !!

as for the mast ?? you wouldn’t get me up the first ten feet !!
