Typhoon in Romania:
London is also sending Typhoon fighter aircraft to Romania to patrol around the Black Sea, partly in support of Turkey.

Rumoring the rumors won’t help for sure. Where is that Munch emoticons…
Cost only. If they don’t need composite pannel, they just replace it with an Al equivalent. That way they have a similar aero config and can concentrate on other things for testing. Think that at this stage the PakFa is more a workshop amateur build than a serial product.
What is of interest (at least to me) is that they needed to keep the dielectric bit in front of the Canoe.
Also, Levcon angle seems to have been increased to 90deg down (but this could be the result of a dismounted /not mounted actuator if the picture were taken at a time of some static test.
The spine looks a little bit more bulgous to me. An increase in fuel capacity?
It brings a lot of doubt for a buy that was supposed to alleviate such. I don’t get it but I guess Saab has given all the appropriate guarantee to cover the risk.
Do we know what type they are after for sure? Is that the E that we are talking about?
yep, we can see it doesn’t use stealth paint..
or at least the same stealth paint as the f-35. it could be using a different kind.
but its closer to the type used by late model f-16s and black rafale.
They are using the same engraved serrated wedges on the trailing surface as on the Rafale. Same technology, this is for sure.
Some more info in the Mil news thread including info sourced in the Fr press.
Crash vid would point toward some command lockup/ failure or dramatic CG shift IMO.
2x CAE pilots (ex-DGSE) + 3x DGSE employee. No mystery. I was referencing the controversy b/w the DGA complaining that CAE didn’t fulfill full security standards (read Le Monde of Today).
The wrecked plane was a twin-prop Fairchild Metroliner Mark III.

Airplane ID:
N577MX was modified with an ISR Electronic suite. CAE is known to lend aircraft to Fr intelligence service. In Le Point, this has led some to argue that this has allowed CAE to work on relaxed terms regarding appropriate legislation.

Do we have a project name for the HaweyeSky?
if anyone is searching for a Job:
http://www.ndtv.com/india-news/goa-beaches-good-incentive-for-french-defence-technicians-manohar-parrikar-1478008
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said the state’s beaches would be a good incentive for French technicians.“Goa has an advantage, you can ask the French also. They will love to come to Goa. While working here they can spend their evening on a nice beach so that they don’t miss the scene or the Cannes festival or the beautiful beaches of France, Europe or even Spain,” he said.
“Goa is the right place for this kind of activity and we can support it,”
Looks good to me. Let me add some green and orange to my swimsuit.
Tackling the age-old problem of basing is also on Martin’s agenda. Large, commercially derived tankers take up valuable ramp space and require lots of infrastructure for care and maintenance, but the number of bases worldwide that can accommodate that type of aircraft is limited. Martin is therefore pushing for a platform that will be able to take off and land in spaces about half the size that a KC-10 or KC-135 requires, which allows the Air Force to more effectively distribute its tanker fleet across the globe.
“If there [are] only 10-15 bases in the entire region where you can take off and land, it limits where aircraft can operate,” Martin says. He adds that the idea is to eventually enable tanker operations from smaller, regional airports. “This opens up some options for distributing our forces—putting tankers at more locations—which brings an inherent reduction in vulnerability to attack. It also allows us to fly the tankers with significantly more options for diverting in case of emergency.”
In pursuit of the same trend.
The one with buried engines on top looks like the TR-X configuration.
@Blitzo: Perhaps you are right. But the meshing would be really tight.
Those talking in the name of Eu and plinking cumulated budget to argue for unity around a project forget that no such thing as heritage is granted in a world economy where new alliance are forged around common vivid interest.
In other words, if you want an European fighter, you’ll better pray for some shared interest in the defense posture that would have to be even stronger that NATO (who’s members are more in line with reality and favor a common market for weapons procurement) to justify such a single procurement.
Wake-up. Germany is closing the Eurofighter line. Do you think that this is to order more?! And a Rafale NG post 2030, you can’t be serious if you just criticize the IAF modernizing their Jaguar.
Interesting that one vent (inlet meshed grid on the side) is occulted by a screwed panel.
Also no stealth paint on that one (I don’t see any filler).
