Even if they have to manufacture in the US, it doesn’t mean that this would not impact their workforce in Sweden. A significant part of their staff (including operators) will have to be relocated (temporary or on more longer term) there to sustain the production activities. The only case where this would not happen is if they had gone through a local subcontractor. Think that they have Saab manufacturing methods, proprietary content and their own set of administrative rules for example.
They have roughly 30% of every T-X to manufacture. I don’t think that they will be short of work for their current manpower anytime soon. Better fill a contract than raising production cost by playing the yo-yo with their workforce.
Freezing production activity has been the motto of Dassault under the Trappier era and it has proved to be an overall disaster.

The F-35 has superior roll rate characteristics with axis centered masses and small wing’s span. Given that at high roll rate forward distribution of weight and drag is also detrimental (excursion in yaw due to inertia), the short nosed/ axially centered mass/no canards F-35 is perfect in that domain (think also A-4). I am surprised that some are looking for potential flaws in that domain…

Instead of running after 1980’s TVC tech they should do the jump directly to fluidic vectoring and distributed propulsion (outlets). Much more bang for the buck.
The point is the apparent discrepancy in execution quality b/w the Japanese line and that at LM. The F-35 test flight and early phase has been remarkable for its absence of crash. If we admit that today hundreds of F-35 fly everyday, accumulating hours by the many, this second crash constitute a spike in probability that constitute an anomaly. Hence, why many don’t see this as a normal occurrence.
