Assad is now safe for some time from everyone! That’s another fact!. Turkey, USA, and many others on the ground there are not happy.

I’m personally just happy to see Russian hardware hopefully beating down on ISIL.

Thank you Jõ. I was not sure if the geo had changed. But as stated by Deino and Latenlazy, your images show that the bump is identical. They probably just paint it over to look like as if it shared the same techno as the F35.

Indication that it is not: same geo and bleeding inlet vanes. It’s hence a full aero inlet with no active flow ctrls. As stated earlier, the doublet of bleeding vanes suggest two cruise modes: Mach+ and higher mach (convergent hypo with the reduction of section to shield the rear vanes behind the shock wave).

Will the IR seeker be a “radar”?

Regarding the TR-X:
I am not sure that this is a discarded design. It’s really B2’ish (and MQ’ish) in the choice of config (aero) + it has the canted V tail such as the one seen in one of the Senior citizen Tunnel tested model (from my memory – not sure).

It would have made sens to compile all that pre-LRSB tech in a design aimed at denied-overflight with a calculated risk of failure/shotdown (just like the RQ170 was expendable).

One thing that puzzles me is the huge cavernous inlet. I wonder if that here that something is missing.

Can someone has a visual showing the difference in inlets size?
