US deploys two F-22s to Poland

As exemplified and stated earlier: a 4 F22 detachment sustained by one single C17*

*hence merely 10+% of the total USAF’s C17 fleet to sustain the entire fleet of Raptor fully disseminated. A remarkable performance… But still, it doesn’t tell us the age of the WingCo

This has come up before. I can’t see Russia sending troops to Syria to fight ISIS?

    From 4th August 2015.

    https://www.rt.com/news/311583-russia-troops-syria-isis/

I don’t know for you but in my book Putin denials will only raises speculations

I have also a hard time with Mig31 flying in the congestioned airspace above Syria where SyAF, Turkish, Israelis and coalition planes of all sort are susceptible to operate at any time!

The UK only bought the C-130J because its preferred transport wasn’t available, & wasn’t going to be for years. It preferred something bigger – as did Germany, France, etc.

The A400M was designed to meet the requirements of the countries in the A400M consortium. One of their most important requirements was that it have a bigger cargo box than the C-130, because their armies found the internal dimensions of the C-130 too restricting, & payload ditto.

Given that A400M was designed to a requirement the UK MoD helped draw up & was happy with, the UK government had paid a share of the development costs, & we (not only RR) make a big share of each one, why buy more of an aeroplane we only bought because the one we really wanted wasn’t ready?

We bought C-17s because of the deficiencies of the C-130 & lateness of A400M. But they’re expensive to run, none of the money spent on buying them comes back to the UK, & they are much more restricted in where they can land & take off than A400M. They’re a supplement, not an alternative.

Funny how I seemingly hear the same babbling from my kitty when she has just regurgitated her meal on the carpet: “it’s not me, it is your latest anorexic girlfriend “… Then guess what I do as the Taxpayer?

Like they said in an old sim game… “a pound of hamburger…”

Fleet size is not as important as the number of hours the fleet is doing. If one has those figures available, a better comparison is possible. And I have no reason not to believe that IAF pilots are also getting more annual hours like many other contemporary forces.

Time Over Target is also of equal importance when the costs of fighters are rising. You won’t need as much number in the air if you can be there faster. Lowering the number you have to turn-in everyday then impart positively your availability rates. It’s a virtuous circle…

Faster, safer (more survivability hence less sortie rate), leaner; Those are the direct cost cutting advantages of the new Gen.

So is that 450M in top of 178M$ or all included?
Thx all for the clarification btw.

No, the radar is all Russian Arbalet.

The French writing is speculated to imply an Algerian export order.

So, they write every marking in English, except that little strip?
    Humm, if you say so…

Did Anybody have also noticed the back-up visor in front of the gunner windshield?

A Chinese UCAV with 4 times the range of the MQ-1 at 20% the cost? Hmm that sounds like a true bargain, to say the least..
OTOH if something seems to be too good to be true, it most often simply isn’t true.

Yes, totally surreal given the design.

But at least it can fire weapon and has an EOIR turret. Not too bad but price shld be compared with other uav in the same cat else than the much superior Predator.

Berkut, that design looks very similar to severall 1990ยดs manned BAE FOAS (Pre Replica) concepts.

PS- Just read the “lift fans on the wings” bit. Lift fans? WHAT?!

    Cheers

I think it should be read in two separate words… ๐Ÿ˜‰

The inward inlet thingy is much more worth a debate.

Don’t forget to factor-in the difference in salary… of their tax-payer.

It’s something to pay 1/3rd less your staff, but tax-revenue are also increasingly lower (in democracy) relatively to a country average incomes (the less you are paid, the less amount of non-necessary goods you are able to buy – hence the less taxes you can – normally – be subdued). It’s the same with Industry taxation. Often, lower wages country are the one with a lower profitable industry (high labor rate, higher competiveness, offshore based administrative center…).

Basing your comparison only on manpower cost can not reflect any representative picture.
