Not really. It’s a lot less friendly than any of the small countries to its south. The Mexicans have vastly better sensors, e.g. a few AEW aircraft, & they can hand on information to the US if they can’t intercept it themselves.

Are you comparing the PIB of Guatemala or Belize to that of Mexico ? Because I see only Honduras and Salvador as more “compliant”.

Sry but this view is invalided by the fact that Gary Power was shot down years before by the very same type of missile at the very same alt. The capacity to shot down an aircraft at that height was there. Mach3 + alt + degraded radar tracking countered it successfully for 30 years.

So, line of sight was denied for any EO system. Hence no visual Id. Like it was assumed weeks before the rebel fired on aircraft with everything they had in hands like anybody in teh same situation will do. Nobody likes to be bombed, that it to be pro-russian, independantist or pro-kiev.
