Antonov confirms SALIS offer to NATO
The Ukrainian-based company reaffirmed on 2 May its offer to provide the necessary number of An-124-100 aircraft to support NATO’s Strategic Airlift International Solution (SALIS) programme, after the Russian-based provider said that when the current contract expires at the end of the year it will cease to provide its services due to the poor political climate between Russia and the West.
Under the SALIS agreement, Antonov Airlines and Volga-Dnepr contribute a total of six An-124 aircraft for charter services to NATO and partner nations. NATO has not yet responded to the offer and had not answered Jane’s questions on the matter by the time of publication.

So that the P-8 will be able to withstand much more stressful maneuvers than a commercial 737 will ever make, its aluminum skin is 50 percent thicker than a regular 737’s and the fuselage and wings have more stiffening stringers and frames, meaning many more rivets.
Because it will sometimes on missions fly low over the ocean, every surface from the nose cone to the horizontal tail must be equipped for de-icing.
The P-8 fuselage, assembled in Wichita, Kansas, by Spirit AeroSystems, arrives by train in Renton with the bomb bay already cut out of the belly.Although the fuselage doesn’t have regular passenger windows, it comes with a large picture window cut out on each side to accommodate a spotter looking for surface vessels.
The large compartment that will house that EO/IR camera is reinforced to withstand the pressure when the camera door opens.Steel fittings on the wings are added to hold the missile pylons.
The cargo hold is configured for seven extra fuel tanks.
A receptacle is built into the forehead of the jet so that it can receive fuel in flight from an Air Force tanker.

What do they have against having a tailplane?
Perhaps that by disposing the cranked delta they could afford the drag of it. I am baffled. Is that thing gonna be restricted to low alpha by some bad engineering again?
It would be nice also for the Fr navy (bring-back). At least they could hope to out-alpha an old F-14 before the 22nd century!

Modernized F-5F crashes in Tunisia killing two
Le tragique accident s’est produit aux environs de la base militaire de Sfax, dans le sud du pays, a indiqué Belhassen Oueslati, porte-parole du ministère de la Défense nationale.
Le pilote d’instruction et le pilote qui effectue la formation ont été tué dans le crash, a ajouté la même source, sans plus de précisions.
