peter, i think you will find that the old girl (as she is affectionatly called by those who used to operate her) is XJ729 :p
i really do hope that 724 can be looked after someday to the same degree that 904 and 728 are, she deserves it
Best regards chaps

i wasnt expecting anyone to give anything 🙂 my course does have a budget for various things, which is why i need to get a positive yes before anything can be done 🙂
when XW270 was at cranfield, she was treated pretty brutally from what ive heard, and if you look around in the airframe the amount of chopped wires and missing parts make this fairly apparent, still hoping that at least something could be done with her 🙂
regards
Ben
FP thanks for that 🙂 ill pass it onto our workshop tecchie who would be very interested in it 🙂
david thankyou for your offer, we are currently making a list of parts that would be needed for our ideas, and still have to be cleared by various higher ups, but should have a basic shopping list by the middle of next week. our aim is to eventually restore some power to various systems etc, ie be able to rotate the nozzles and extend various flight controls.
thanks for your offer david, ill be in touch via pm as soon as i know for sure whats what
best regards
Ben (aka Nashio)

i see they’ve updated the CGI images, it now looks like a silver version of bluebird with some small changes, i think they’ve changed the design too, it now looks totally different to the initial concept.
i think there might be a reason that the water speed record is still just over 300mph – i think it holds the highest fatality rate out of all speed records… someone once said the fatality rate was about 60%…
absolutely fantastic!!! what a display piece that would make!
sorry to see that you have to sell your new toy martin 🙁 i hope she finds a good home
