she’s going to endure a fate that she doesnt deserve, its just a terrible shame nothing can be done 🙁
*DROOLS INTENTLY*
(if indeed there are different manners in which one can drool!)
There were some more applicable ‘Comrods’ out there, the last of the Comets were converted to Nimrods on the production line (I think) hence the prototypes having a full compliment of windows. Incidently, Franboroughs old Comet 4 XV814 which became XS235’s spares ship at the end of her life before being sadly broken up, had the Nimrods dorsal fin fitted.
i had noticed that whilst trawling demobbed earlier, a great shame that she was broken up, but at least her parts went to good cause in XS235 she was a magnificent sight, especially to my grandfather who remembered seeing the water tank that they built to find out what the problem was with the airframe concerning metal fatigue, hell of a thing though 🙂
oi! i didnt come up with it, it was previously mentioned by another forumite, i rather like the name :p
that looks like it could have been fun 😀
keith thats going as my desktop background, i think the rain made it that bit extra special 🙂 you dont really get an impression of the power of these aircraft in the dry but water shifted off the pan by the engine exhaust is just fantastic 🙂 what a day every single aircraft gave me goosbumps to listen to 😀
lucky so and so that sounds awesome did you manage any pictures 🙂
ah, having just watched the two vids of the victor and lightning, i really wish i had stayed a little longer! i love the fact the lightning set of what sounds to be a multitude of car alarms 😀
ill drink to that PP, well done to all 🙂
ah i definitely will, ill be up there as often as i can, i love the place, ive never experienced such a positive attitude before, with regards to the bmw he was a fair bit behind when you chopped the throttle though i think he may have given you a run for your money in the dry 😉 wonderful day and ill drop you a line next time i pop along 🙂 the F104 is awesome seriously a totally imaculate cockpit! though im sure you know 🙂
ritch was it your aircraft that went screaming off down the runway with the M3 in pursiut? fantastic day, pity i couldnt find you to say hi, found brian in the end though 🙂
i think there was a 4 engined douglas aircraft in there too, one of the travelling scenes. though i have to admit it was a good action movie, the whole storyline i found extremely disappointing…
is anyone going from the redditch/evesham sort of area??? my lift has let me down at the last minute, and i really cant cycle the 52 miles there if they are going and could give me a lift, ill pay for entry for the person driving (probably too late now) just a thought though lol im sure ill get there somehow 🙂
i think the noise is caused by resonance of the air through the intakes as the engines spool up and start sucking more air in (not sure) so i would have thought that you would have to accelerate the engines through a certain range to get that beautiful jurassic park howl rather than having her engines running at a specific power setting. really dont know though lol
with regards to holding her back…. why would you want to 😉
hehe i know what you mean, ive spent the last three days adrift in the web without any purpose :p good to be back though guys 🙂
