David, once again, thankyou for your kind input 🙂 although i think that you may find when the issue with removal of parts, in this instance, was raised, that may have been the implication.

considering that concordes landing speed was somewhere in the region of 185mph 😮

Water + Aluminium Aircraft X Speed = A big splash and not much left???

I really cant see there being anything left even if they managed to stall her in, considering that the velocity gained in a 90-100ft fall and impact with the sea, pretty much guarantees death, i cant see an aircraft travelling at twice if not more the speed surviving. Also taking into consideration, that essentially she was a dart, either would have completely disentegrated, or perhaps plunged straight into the water and gone straight to her grave in a matter of seconds, not nice to think about really

This seems to have turned rather nasty, with some of us making this a personal issue (or so it seems) what happens with this particular mossie, is down to what the canadian law stipulates, and what the museum decide to do. I dont deny that i would love to see it here and possibly restored to airworthy condition. My opinion however makes no difference. with regards to some of the comments about the restoration of the hurricane, For example the likelyhood of the airframe being raped of all the airworthy parts, and having essentially rubbish being put in its place, (I dont know about you guys but to me, it’s theft) I really dont think that any accomplished aircraft restoration team would do this, and really paints all of them with a very bad brush. in all honesty its fair to say that some of the comments that have been made seem to be slanderous, then again thats me. perhaps this thread should be locked? I dont know but lets not all jump to conclusions and hope that whatever happens is best in the long run for the aircraft itself, eh?

Was at Long Marston just before Chrimbo. Had a walk around the gate guard Sea Prince.

Surprised that its still very easy to turn the props and a decent bit of compression still in both engines. Lovely popping sound as the blades are pushed through.

ive spoken to the chap who owns the prince and meteor. apparently she was being restored to flight at some point (as he said) and still has a containerfull of spares for her, couple of spare engines and general parts etc.

Could a group be formed to go to the owner with ideas of preservation and manpower

There is not only one owner and this suggestion has been tried in the past!:(

that was the reason for me joining this forum, to find out more about them and see what could be done. got a couple of PMs from local ish people (as i live about 5 miles away) to say they were really interested in helping. unfortunately even when i offered to just go and cut the grass and invest my own money into doing something for them, i was met with a flat no. i think exact words were “no im sorry, we don’t do that anymore” i have since made a point of avoiding long marston as everytime i go there it just makes me sad 🙁

JB, lovely idea, but in reality who is going to spend that much money on a beautiful aircraft (to do it would be a deeply personal thing i would have thought) only to give it away? still we can all dream, if it means she comes here and flys again, ill donate money towards it 😮

could be interesting, though at the end of the day the whole idea of making a mould of the airframe and making it from carbon fibre wont be cheap will it? i dont really know but i would have thought that it would be more expensive in the long run wouldnt it? also thinking in terms of certification certainly in this country, maybe a problem?
