ah but at least they are in one piece, far too many Good aircraft have been scrapped in this country. as had already been mentioned, they would probably have been scrapped if they were in the uk, neither would have lasted this long in our weather or with the people π
so all in all these two are, out of the survuving shacks (bar the long marston example) in the worst condition, sad really, because they are both mostly complete arent they? π
dammit, you’re right, all we need, is the graf zeppelin, 81 meerkats, three blades of grass, a sizeable chunk of unobtanium and a lot of luck π
no but seriously, are these aircraft in as worse a condition as they look, or is it just sun bleached paint? could they be made active ever again?
i believe she is the last of her type in existance, im sure someone else will confirm this to be most probably wrong π
what sort of condition is she in?
yeah dude, have a really good birthday π
Well I never did, and another thing, the bloke standing guard over it is the most anti-social miserable bleeder I have ever had the misfortune to come
across, never ever say’s a word, yeah real Disneyland material if ever I saw it.Regards, JJ.
his name is bob actually, unfotunately he’s rather a quiet chap, and doesnt speak often on having a very high pitched voice ……….:D
i seem to remember my father harping on about the fact that its all original, which is why its special, they restored the one side to depict how it was when found, and the other left, to give the Then and Now impression. if i had the money, straight back into the air for her π
Hi PeterW, And you know what would be even better, the Ju52 and 109E
outside with the He 111 against those big green lovable hanger-doors, great backgrounds
to get a cameo shot. Of course they would have to rescue the 109E from that crashed enermy aircraft in a field somewhere in England scene, with its
sad bent prop and wheels-up display. How about putting it back on its feet
and pushing it out the hanger now and again. Maybe have your photo taken
in it for a modest fee like the Fw 190 this year for worthy causes.
Just a thought.Regards JJ.
Regards, JJ.
interesting idea with the 109, i quite like the way its displayed at the moment though, i suppose not everyones cup of tea π
IMO any government prepared to fund the TSR2 would be unlikely to cancel the Navy’s follow-on carriers so the Argentine government would probably have been unwilling to even consider going anywhere near the Falklands faced with the possibility of two well armed and equipped carrier groups bobbing around in the area with AEW/ASW support.
A efficient and forceful sales team unhindered by the likes of Mountbottom and politicians with dubious agendas might have been able to flog a fair few to our NATO allies (in place of Tornado) and the Colonials (F1-11s) so the whole thing could have potentially paid for its self (as the Canberra did I believe)
Thirty years of fine tuning and the subsequent development of a replacement could have kept the British aircraft industry at the forefront of loud noisy pointy jet production rather than ‘makes a few bits of Airbus’ or ‘has to cobble together a consortium of loud and troublesome foreigners who want to keep changing the rulesβ π
absolutely brilliant, i think thats one of the best statements of 2008 so far π A+ hehe
cannot believe i got that serial number wrong! been reading the book recently *abject shame*
how about the B58 on a photographic range somewhere near edwards, dont know if its endangered, but certainly a rare bird such as this deserves a better home

UXB = Unexploded Bomb
XM603 at woodford, for being the only vulcan paintied in the original antiflash white scheme, it will be a crying shame to see another vulcan scrapped π
