quite like that question, i would have thought that the buccaneer would have stayed in the navy, since there would be no need for her in Raf service TSR.2 filling that role, i have to say if they had been upgraded and maintained properly, re engined eventaully, i believe that they may still be in service, and be on the verge of retirement like the jag and SHAR, though thats my opinion, if the same had been applied to the vulcan as had been applied to the B52, they may still be in service (depending on the governments budget)
lol, i had heard about an alien spaceship somewhere, i beleive it landed (rather poorly i might add) somewhere near texas, or was it mexico??? i forget 😀 :p 😀
1) my own project,
2) tickets to RIAT and Legend
3) seeing a beaufighter in the air (pigs may fly first this year but im hopeful that the restoration will finish before the evolution of pigs makes a new and interesting development)
4) seeing the vulcan fly more than once
5) going flying again
is that too much to ask for??? 😀 😀 😀
The latter two were cancelled for very publicly available reasons. The Lavi met its demise after the US pulled the plug on the funding of this Israeli F-16-competitor-to-be, and the YF-23 lost in the competition for the F-15 replacement from the YF-22.
i seem to remember reading somewhere that the YF-23 was a better aircraft in terms of performance and stealth, or is that just me?
ill second that, it looked amazing!!! in black too! 😀
whats wrong with the TSR.2?!!
the british interceptor that was 90% completed as a mockup, the remains of which are in storage at cosford. also the north american XB-70, and the similar avro 730 was it??? (not sure about that one)
what interesting photographs, thankyou for sharing, 41 years old definitely classifies as historic aviation to me. looks to have been quite a day 🙂
Ben
victor valiant vulcan and canberra?
the greatest single mistake in english aviation, damn the labour goverment, video does make me weep 🙁
what a fantastic video, the music is very fitting!
Didn’t they run the engines of the ME-410 AND FW-190 when they were at Cosford?- i don’t know where the ‘410 is now, but remember seeing the ‘190 at hendon a few years ago (obviously silent!!) – but i can’t bring myself to go there anymore knowing that ‘Black 6’ was interned there and is quite capable of flight but won’t ever get off the ground again even though there was a ‘109 there already
Me 410 is at cosford, i totally agree with you about black 6, i saw it fly when i was younger, and when i saw it at hendon, devoid of life, 🙁
i think that the TU-160 has much more presence (personally) and though both are fairly similar in looks, the 160 to me is far more impressive, now 4 or 5 B1b’s i might be interested 😀 all are beautiful aircraft, its just that a Tu-160 is not an oft seen type 🙂
damn you caught me 😮 already seen that, kind of looking for something you can power up, so you can actually feel it alive. i have this mentality that all ex military aircraft should be saved no matter what the cost, they have all served the country, and many meet a rotten fate.
watch this space, i intend to own my own museum one day, with an example of every ex Raf aircraft since the cold war in it! 😀
From my conversations with Rob Moffat at Thunder City a few years ago, it was mentioned that the fleet operates to strict control within South African airspace only, so flights to this country are a non starter unless there has been a relaxing in South African permit to fly regulations.
crying shame 🙁
i thought she was supposed to be flying this year, or at least thats what i picked up from thunder and lightnings
