is there anything left of KB994, apparently her cockpit section is still at north weald???
nothing substantial, just a few plaques and serial stamped parts. just out of interest, who was behind the saving of the two remaining examples? i mean weren’t they all assigned destruction orders? must have been a station commander somewhere who decided they were not for the scrapheap and put in the back of a hanger under wraps until the time war right?
the one that shows them being cutup and burnt actually makes me want to cry 🙁
phenomenal!!!! hr really does kick her into the sky :diablo:
Thankyou one and all for a truly enthusiastic responses, the painting and those photos are exellent really spot on i enjoyed looking at them,, its one hell of an aircraft (in laymans term it just looks so edgy and full of menace) everything a bear should be and more, so come on RAf museum/Duxford?Cosford/Elvington?Newark etc etc Oh and East Fortune get talking to uncle boris, ITS BEARTIME PLAYMATES!!!!!!! 😎 😎 😎
considering that one of them is basically the size of a B52, wouldnt they need to fly one into the museum, could they land one at cosford  would love to see one though, that would be an awesome addition to the collection at dx
having read Vulcan 607, i would have said watching a vulcan fly up the grand canyon would be amazing, having only ever seen a video of one fly, i would have to say that seeing one in a full power climbout would have to be the most awesome sight ever!
It isn’t necessarily loud – just a deep ‘thrum’ – and according to some – nauseating.
Bears – in transit to Cuba in the old days – have apparently been picked up by the American SOSUS underwater listening devices strung along the seabed off the coast of the US!!
Ken
so its a loud deep thrum then? :diablo:
i love the Tu-160, its an absolute monster of a machine!!!, when was the last time one was at fairford? might there be one next year (missed it this year)
Ben
would be nice, wouldn’t it. if i had £2k lying around i would snap one up instantly. i would love a griffon though!
edited my last post, to make it sound less like a snotty little git, and more like what i intended, sorry guys 😮
…….i wonder if the chap who owns the shack at marston would sell one of the griffons from her?
going by this, have the runways at southend and at wellesbourne have been dramatically shortened since their vulcan’s arrived?
😮 😮 😮 you mean more than a complete bucanneer!! jeez why are they so expensive?
why was it cancelled? did tvoc cancel it?
going with the above, how much would a restorable rolls royce merlin cost? or preferably a griffon.
