most people were smiling quietly to themselves at the topgun music playing in the background 😉
😮 there was a guy at legends with a griffon on a trailer, ground running it, he kept putting his hand in the exhaust, if its at 1500 degrees, shouldn’t it be melting his hand?
What mark was the spit with the contra rotating props? made a wonderful noise :diablo: though it seemed to land earlier than the rest of the spits, was this due to any mech problem? fantastic day throughout 😀
Which one was the spit with the contra rotating props, i haven’t come across that type before. absolutely stunning 🙂
as in back inside airspace? or one of the other hangars? she’s not on any of the floorplans for airspace
i seem to remember reading somewhere that the earlier marks of P-40 were somewhat underpowered, so if it is smaller than normal, would maybe explain this rumour?
its very sad indeed 🙁 another less well known one is west raynham, just sat there doing nothing 🙁
😮 😮 😮 who owna the lightning???!!! i want it, is ti really still there, definitely not beyond saving 😀
i seem to remember seeing a couple of million pound in my back pocket 😛 three milliion would be better then? providing enough for a hangar and all the tools you would need? hehe ill ask my dad 😀 😀 😀
says WW2 aircraft, though at first glances most people would thing world war one, my thoughts are along the lines of Fairey swordfish or, more probably the Westland Wapiti, as they served with the Indian airforce if memory serves 🙂
i love the idea that fire crew training used an aircraft made mainly from aluminum and magnesium, anyone who has done chemistry will know that metals of that kind when lit burn vigorously to say the least! if she had been used (and burnt) that i cant see there being anything substantial left at all, which is a great shame, lindy £2million for an airworthy new build? if thats the case then thats a pittance to bring back an aircraft from the dead! considering that an “old” spit is at about the £1million mark, what engines would you use though? id love to see one 🙂
pretty sure that the guys from 558 have already removed most of her serviceable components or at least those that they needed (engines etc)
erm… why do all of them need to be put into an aircraft straight away, spare spars would ensure that no matter what they would be flying for the foreseeable future 😀
“put her back in taxiing condition” whats wrong with her? i read the article concerning the problem with the brakes before last years run, anything to do with that? 🙂
what is it inside the shack that made the CAA to classify it as “Complex” surely less complex than a vulcan
