pretty sure a lynching would be in order if she were painted up like that! then again sponsership is sponsership, the sea vixen wouldn’t be flying now if it wasnt for red bull and there somewhat garish theme… whats worse paint or not flying… hmmm easy choice for me 🙂
just to be special, ive just looked at some old videos, and i have to say that i would love to have seen some of the prototype aircraft of the mid 60’s to 70’s, (most of which now reside at cosford) all of them were awesome aircraft 🙂 i told my grandfather yesterday that there are no whole stirlings known to still exist, his reaction was a mixture of horror and amazement, i then went on to explain that only very recently has the halifax been bought back to life, and i must say he looked totally dismayed 🙁
hehe, if we are talking wyverns here, would you agree that it would have to be the one they made with a rolls royce eagle engine, not the turboprop? 😀
i too would like to see a wyrven :p also, a wyvern would be nice too 😀
i believe one of the depicted photographs is actually from everett aero’s for sale page! bloke is a bit of a plonker:D
Well said 😀
CORRECTION
largest ex military JET aircraft, and is still a milestone in historic aviation/preservation
with regards i think you will find that a vulcan is considerable more complex than a mars or an antheus
well i consider the number of firsts she will be making,
first vulcan to fly in more than 10 years
first vulcan to be flown by a civillian owner
most complex ex military aircraft considered for a permit by the CAA in this country (correct me if im wrong)
she will be the largest ex military aircraft to fly anywhere in the world (correct me if im wrong)
im pretty sure that she will be the only cold war bomber of her “class” (heavy, again please correct if im wrong )
im sure there are a lot more here, but those are all i can think of now, heaviest and most powerful spring to mind.
forgive me if im wrong but when she flies, it will be a milestone in terms of achievement in the aviation industry, i dont think that there is or has been any other project in the world quite as adventurous and complex.
just my opinion 🙂
… wonder what the going rate for Concorde B&B would be :diablo:
… my point being that overall, if preservation was the aim of said group, i doubt that the HLF would have given anything like as much money as they have donated to TVOC to get her flying again. im sure thats what i pointed out above
😀
at the end of the day it is all “personal opinion” when it comes to what people think what should have been done with the money. The decision was made by the HLF, who is anyone to say what should have been done? i doubt that they would have given that much to the aviation world if just “preservation” was the concerning issue, then again i don’t know how it works. Having never seen a Vulcan fly, I cannot wait to see one in the sky, it will certainly be one of the highlights of my year 😀
I was about to say, pretty sure a bucc didnt have afterburners 😀 , unless said buccaneer is a TSR.2 with some weird cloaking device that enables it to appear to be another aircraft :p
all i can say is YUM and i want one, hopefully going to start building a 1/4 scale one soon 😀
the first flight isn’t going to be disclosed??? one of the largest milestones in civil and historic aviation, and the date isn’t going to be disclosed. that is a great shame 🙁
there is one other qualm with elvington, i have been told that since lindy has been a resident, the length of the runway has been shortened, so even if there were unlimited resources to hand, im sure someone had mantioned before that she couldn’t fly out due to there not being enough runway  anyone care to correct me?
