i too would love to see concorde fly again, but the sheer implications of doing so are staggering (so im told) something like 10 times the cost of returning XH558 to our skies (or more)

I think that one has crossed the line from ‘being on it’s way’ to ‘being stuck’.

impounded i heard, something to do with the propeller servicing not being paid for, and the hangarage not having been paid either

not yet, always got to move forward though ๐Ÿ˜€ i find it odd that there are so few surviving victors considering that they served a lot longer than the vulcans  pity honestly i think they are much more pleasing to the eye than the vulcan i would love to see a lightning fly again thought this will never happen in this country ๐Ÿ™

im curious, if the CAA will permit an aircraft as large and as complex as a Vulcan to fly, why is there no possibility that a “Frightning” could fly  i cant see them being as complex as a Vulcan, obviously there must be other factors involved here, still …. Buccaneer would be a hell of a sight, then again there will be one soon. LL, you are basically saying for Lindy or the one at Brunty to fly, you’re looking at stripping them to pieces and then fabricating and replacing the spars?, in that case wouldn’t it be easier to offer Duxford a reasonable amount for theirs, as even though she’s not in as good condition the main factor would be flying life gained for the money injected into the project, i heard someone mention that the B.1 at Duxford’s systems have been powered up in the last 5 years??? something along those lines anyway, thoughts anyone?

i cant wait to see her fly, maybe it would be a good idea for people on the forum who are associated with the project to give us more detailed updates? always good to get the info straight from the people who know what they’re on about ๐Ÿ™‚

Just an idea Iโ€™ve toyed with during quiet moments.

Take a fairly basic extinct airframe but one that would arouse some interest (and yes, I know, not a good starting point)โ€ฆoh, and a complete set of drawings (highly unlikely I know).

What does it actually consist of? Tens of thousands of reasonably simple light alloy (or wooden) components, several thousand more complex components, and thousands of rivets, nuts, bolts, washers and other standard parts.

Now given a large (infinite) number of aircraft enthusiasts and a couple of decadesโ€ฆ

โ€ฆanybody see where Iโ€™m going with this?

only thing that crosses mind was the reference to a shackleton being described as ten thousand rivets flying close formation, but they aren’t extinct…. ๐Ÿ˜Ž sounds interesting, what is it ???

I would have said cost / complex aircraft / etc, but there is an avro arrow now…….. the main thing I guess is the fact that 2 survive, only 1 ever flew, and it was never in service. That said, I’d build one if I had the money/time/space/skill….

you can count me in if you feel like having a go at it ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

if that mockup had made it to production, forgive the unintended pun, but it would have absolutely flown ๐Ÿ˜‰ dimension wise it doesn’t look that much wider than a standard spit, except with twice the power :diablo:
