Bulava update:
Revised Bulava test programme draws favourable reaction
By David C Isby
28 May 2009Reaction to the announcement of an expanded test programme for Russia’s troubled Bulava (SS-NX-30) submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) – to include five test launches plus static and ground tests in the remainder of 2009 – has been generally favourably received by supporters of the controversial weapon.
Russian Defence Minister Anatoliy Serdyukov told the press at a Victory Day (9 May) gathering in Moscow: “Taking any missile into service is a challenging and, unfortunately, none-too-rapid a period. The Bulava is no exception. All the other missiles also underwent serious tests, not escaping failures and errors.”
Nikolay Kalistratov, general director of the Sevmashpredpriyatiye Company (Sevmash dockyard), which is building the Borey-class ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) that will be armed with the Bulava, told Russian press sources on 30 April at Severodvinsk that “stable results” should first be obtained in test firings from the trials submarine Dmitriy Donskoy , before test firings are attempted from the new SSBN Yuri Dolgoruky .
He also pointed out that there have been no problems with the Bulava’s in-water performance (it is launched from an inclined launch tube rather than a vertical one as in earlier SLBM designs) and expressed confidence that other problems will be solved.

Otaku, please note that India is purchasing the PAK-FA from Russia, and not “co-developing” it (the “co-development” propaganda is in name only). US has also offered JSF to India, albeit without licence production rights, unlike PAK-fA.
Yes absolutely, I mean incorporating a second seat (a first for a 5G), and redesigning the structure/aerodynamics/wings/control surfaces etc. to maintain LO & flight performance/range- is no big deal.
I myself am working on a proposal on my pc- should be finished by this time tomorrow.

Sorry, the special relationship between Russia and India is almost over…..and Russia can only blame themselves.
Not that I enjoy making you look stupid Scooter, but India’s Oil & Natural Gas Corp., ONGC Videsh Ltd. etc. would beg to differ, particularly as they’ll be looking to spend the equivalent of the entire MMRCA budget yearly to develop Sakhalin 1 & 3.
…oh and I doubt the US will be leasing a Seawolf or co-developing a Raptor-type with India anytime soon, lets say 20 years.
That Coca-Cola culture’s gone to your head.
Hardly!! One Mig25 from the gulf war evaded 2x AIM54, 3xAMRAAM and several AIM7s in the same engagement. Admittedly it didn’t shoot anything down itself but the missiles left in its wake were almost certainly worth more than the airframe.
Man, you made my day!! Thankyou :D:)
Given the amount of marketing F-35 enjoys, I’d dare to say that if there was slightest indication of F-35 being able to achieve/maintain supersonic speed at military thrust, we’d hear that trupmpeted out all over the news.
They can’t even claim accidental supercruise like Sukhoi did for ‘901’:D.
Stop it!! Stop it!! you naughty Su-35!!
“Scooter fail consistency? That’s unpossible!”
Scooter sums up the F-35 programme:
[Sweetman’s] reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know

Is the front row R-33S and R-33?
Sorry, yes- front left. More details:

In RuAF and for varous reasons, they still like the long range AAM, and are still investing in such missiles (R-37 and KS-172).
…and the R-33S, with the introduction of destabilizers along with the redesigned wing offering increased performance against maneuvering targets (SARH terminal phase).

Could you define “Islamic Bomb” for the benefit of Forumers???
The muslim ‘wonder-weapon’ that will facilitate a resurrection of the Islamic Khalifate.
Regardless, not within the remit of the IAF thread, inchala.
