MMCRA contests are already obsolete infront of Su-35. Today i saw Irkut in interfax that they can export 200 more Su-30MKI class fighter.
and now with the speed that IAF order is going to fullfil with all the upgrades on line by the time MMRCA is ready to signed there will be 250 Su-30. So It is likely they will continue to order the same thing. It is the price/momentum of deliveries that matter rather than creating whole new infrastructure/Pilot training for another type which is costly and delay. and than u already have BAE poor performance/Price increase in Hawk and PAK-FA is just around the corner so whats the point of that contest.
If, as seems likely, trench3 gets cancelled that means it’s no-longer an MMRCA contender- leaving the Super-Hornet the clear favourite. Now which aircraft have Sukhoi officials gone to pains to compare the BM to recently? the SH!
An Indian order for the BM would be pretty smart: not as many as 126 would be required, ToT/off-sets would be no issue (as per MKI) and sub-systems/weapons commonality & upgrades for ’35BM, ’30MKI & PAK-FA-MKI would save significant $ in the long-term.
dont dismiss novator ks /172 nautical miles project yet ,why you listening to its competitor vympel?
They’re not, they’re listening to Reuben F. Johnson– someone who thinks the ’35BM is the PAK-FA and that the F-35 is the front-runner for Brazil’s FX-2 (despite being unequivocaly ruled out by Brazil’s MoD):
More to the point, is the SU-34 even survivable in todays massively networked IADS setup?
With dozens of networked radars and SAMs, isnt the SU-34 just an anachronism? Why not modify Su-27s with standoff weaponry instead, rather than developing a purpose built bomber at terrific cost, which is already obsolete?
It fills quite a role in replacing Su-24 & Tu-22M, it’s slated to receive an AESA & more powerful engines, and the RuAF envisages a dedicated EW (Growler-type variant), also it will be used as manned airborne battlespace controller of UCAVs……besides, it looks beautiful 🙂

As Sens has remarked though, do not expect Russia in its current economic and political situation to have any reservations about committing massive resources if it feels the need.
…unless it’s inflationary.
There will be no UBER trench3 Typhoon- hence the Eurofighter’s screwed vs. the BM, MKI & MKM.
Denial reigns supreme on this thread as you revel in Reuben F. Johnson’s comedy journalism, ignoring Pogosyan’s lecture at RAeS where Sukhoi’s work on LO design & materials is stated as a “top priority”. But that’s your choice, dwelling in the early 90s, clutching dera studies.
As for Japanese AESA, you are aware why the Japanese economy is where it is today, right? that beautiful word innovation, we should be applauded for using our considerable MMIC tech. for such COTS applications, full of bugs or not- a great indigenous effort.
Now back to your dribbling…..
M.Pogosyan’s RAeS Sopwith Lecture details (PAK-FA & LO research):

M. Pogosyan says Su-35 is no match for the F-22…..but PAK-FA will be 😎

Is the Su-35BM gonna gatecrash India’s MMRCA party?

Interesting article on page 60…:)
Nice find mupp, however Reuben F. Johnson is a Russo-phobe full of bull.
At MAKS’07 he said the PAK-FA was actually the Su-35BM- “for the Russians to save face”. So he’s now saying it’s an Su-27 with internal bays, I mean, what does the S-37 have in common with the Flanker? (apart from the canopy).
He claims the paralay rendition of internal bays closely follows that of the 1.44, when that rendition takes into no account the mechanics/launch mechanisms etc- and hence is pure fantasy.
He also claims that the Novator KS-172 is “a complete bluff” or so he’s been told by Vympel reps (pg.12).
NIIP have worked and demonstrated AESAs long before Phazotron, they’re far better funded and will take-over Phazotron unless the latter can find orders for the Zhuk AE pretty soon. They demonstrated AESA X-band mod.blocs and L-band conformal at MAKS’07.
The T/R module manufacture will probably be sourced from ‘Mikran’ they may have to build a new fab plant- but they’re not short of petro$ & time is on their side.
I don’t know if the PAK-FA engine remains a competitive tender (or Salyut & Saturn have been forced to pool their efforts).
M.Pogosyan said last week that the aircraft is “by definition a stealth fighter”– the first time he’s ever mentioned design features, I’ll take his word over mr reubens’ anyday.
See the pace of fielding true AESA. Most of that still limited to A2A at first, because it take years to add the still missing modes for true multi-role. . 😉
Really? Phazotron’s Zhuk AE demonstrated various A2G modes to an Indian aviation journalist during AeroIndia’07.

It’s anticipated PAK-FA will commence RuAF trials in 2013 (which means Sukhoi flight-test programme 2009-13), with series production starting in 2015, which means IOC say, 2017.
Yesterday, at Farnborough, Pogosyan stated he expected a production run of 1,000 units up until 2055!
A nice overview of MiG 1.42 (if somewhat dated):
Someone correct me if I’m missing something…
FWIW:
Worth it’s weight in Gold, Trident, nice one!
No, but I found this the other day:
