I nearly got arrested trying to take this one at BHD…

Good ole MAUD – I’ve racked up 11 flights on her, the first in December 97 and the last in October 03.

I know what security can be like at BHD, but more so in the days when Shorts actually made aircraft there. I can remember on an Ulster Aviation Society trip from BHD to MAN in October 93 being reprimanded very severely for attempting to take a photo of our group boarding our Jersey European 146 (G-JEAK) as there were two University Air Squadron Bulldogs barely visible on the other side of the ramp, in the background. The shot would have included the general area of the Tucano hangars too 😮 Strange then that we ended up with a tour of the Tucano production facility some time later and photos weren’t a problem.

    Jobsworths – doh! 😡

Simply making planes people want is not enough these days – the build quality has to be top notch otherwise your customers will go elsewhere if they can. In this case, the main competition for Embraer is from Bombardier, and like with the old Boeing v Airbus battle, customers have a very difficult choice most of the time, and the orders are hard won. If the product quality and after sales aren’t what’s required, they’ll not survive. Embraer are VERY good at what they do, and sales across the world prove it.

    Well done Embraer.

Sorry Shamrock, I’ve no up to date facts and figures on aerarann. You’re right though, Jet2 going is a blessing for them all right.

Where abouts is gate 30? All transatlntic flights depart from Pier B. Is 30 a gate below for US immigration.

Gate 30 is indeed in B, down the stairs for US Immigration about half way round the concourse. We nearly missed it as we followed the gate numbers round clockwise, and only after passing it, realised it and a couple of others are downstairs after the US Immigration desks. In the end, you actually come back upstairs again to use the airbridge. The only reason for going downstairs is to do Immigration.

Dee747 Picked up a Citroen C4 Coupe today 2.0 Six speed diesel!! What an awesome car…my first Citroen!!!! Talk about the long route home!

Well done that man! Had a look at one in the local Citroen dealership, and it’s certainly a very well put together machine, with a racy interior fit. You’ll definitely NOT be disappointed in the engine performance, especially with that 6-speed box. ENJOY, and welcome to the clever drivers club ….. 😉

Having driven Citroens for the last 9 years, I’ve just bought a C5 2.0HDi diesel estate this week. Last two were a superb 2.1 turbo diesel XM and a 2.0HDi Xantia. They may be typically French in their design (i.e. “quirky”), which is not necessarily to everyone’s taste, but they’re damned good tow cars (we have a touring caravan as well). Self levelling suspension is a joy when towing.

    Love them.

Many thanks guys – it backs up my own hunch that it’s still shared screens on almost the whole fleet. Miss Dee747 will just have to content herself this time around, and wait for some other flight to get her PTVs.

    Cheers
