AID – Aeronautical Inspection Directorate. Very much UK.
Need a de Havilland Heron spinner and back plate for the bracket type of propeller.
Thanks
No, this is a UK based project, although it will be moving to France with her owner.
Spinner
Hi Stan, yes, certainly interested. Some are available in the UK, but they are for the later hydromatic unit, not the bracket propeller which is what we need. Shipping isn’t a problem. Thank you.
Not really Ron, it’s for a Fiat G.46. We have all the other cowling etc (for the Fiat).
Nothing happening there that hasn’t happened to the rest of us at some time or another. Not everything always goes to plan for one reason or another.
There was a gentleman by the name of Mark deVries who’s considerable input and dedication to this project in pulling it together in the first place can far too easily be overlooked. Sadly Mark is no longer with us, but I’m sure his children will rightly be very proud to see this Spitfire in the future.
Here’s to you old friend.
The operational life of an aeroplane is not dissimilar to the life cycle of a person in many respects. By the time you’re of an age to be able to read and post on a forum such as this you will already contain precious little if any of the material which constituted you at birth. Does that make you, at any stage of your life, anyone other than yourself? Of course not. It is simply a factor (or a cost) of existence.
The PT-19 was not sold and remains in the same ownership, although she will be leaving the UK in the very near future. It may however be back for displays as and when.
Does anyone have a list of the part number tie-up between HS and DH parts for the 12D40 hub?
Thanks
Hi, we have available a Pitts 12 fuselage frame which would with the addition of instruments etc form an excellent simulator or basis for a cockpit project. Not after much for it, would happily trade for a few Auster instruments……..
Anyone have a Hastings prop hub sitting around as a door-stop?
Some early Tempest Vs had the 4 blade DH prop of the late Typhoon. And a few late Typhoons had the Rotol prop which was more standard on the Tempest V. I guess it was all down to availability leading up to and over the period of production changes. So both types swung both ways on prop type to some degree.
The EU has become unpalatable indeed, but only to those who are looking for scapegoats for their own inadequacy. There is sadly a mindset that will always need a scapegoat, be it immigrants, the EU or whoever. We’ve worked in the EU for years and have great clients there who we support without fear of undue regulation and we do great business there. EU passporting rules work well for us, as they do for many companies in our sector. However, I don’t kid myself that the future looks all chipper in the post Brexit UK business world, and the new inward facing right wing UK is not somewhere I want my kids growing up. I want them to grow up with equal respect for all people, regardless of skin colour or accent. But then I guess I’m one of those liberal elite scum that the government are so vocally against these days. So, we’ve sold our house here, we’re re-registering the company in another EU state and we’re off, taking our not insignificant tax revenue to where it is appreciated. So, screw the lot of you, and thanks for all the fish…..
Hi, tried to send you a message, but your mailbox appears full. I’ve been after one for a while for something I’m working on. Could you drop me a pm please?
Thanks
