I’m not chinese or vietnamese, so forgive my ignorance on this.. what grievances does Vietnam have with China after the war in the 70s.. I thought a treaty was signed.. is it the Spartly and other Islands.. I recall a naval battle there.. but things seem to be going peacefully after that.

Is it historical.. like ancient enemity?

PS: I wish we asians could put up a united front like the US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, etc. These people have fought each other like anything but when they face us they are almost always united.

nice. 🙂 strange that whenever you think of something someone else out there is also thinking about it.

My idea is basically a single seat single engined propeller driven plane with a small bay (for say 1 torpedo). Short stubby wings. for taking of it would have a inflatable type 2 pods that are metallic from the outside such that when deflated they turn back into the airframe. The metallic strip also acts as the surface that hits the water waves while taking off..

The engine is geared such that it can either run the propellor at the front or drive the screw aft. The propellor is collapsible.

The short stubby wings blend into the body and the body represents a blended wing/body design.

Heck I should have been an aeronautical engineer rather than an economist.. 😀 I spend all my time dreaming up new designs of planes..

I think if the U2 is going to be replaced it should get a worthy replacement whether manned or unmanned is another question. The GH is just not a worthy replacement.

Phantom II: the reason ppl don’t generally reply to your posts is because you’ve shown yourself to be biased in your own way. Flogger is a troll but flex has a very balanced argument in anything he says. As compared to some other members on this forum, his logic is quite sound.

The reason ppl like discussing Russian and chinese projects more these days is because Jane’s, AFM and many other western mags have degraded their expertise in the field. The only place you can really get info about Russian and chinese projects are online these days. I wouldn’t be here if it werent for crobato et al on the chinese speculation thread.

    Cheers

I have had a design in my head for years.. didnt know what to call it as I have never heard of Ekrano whatever…

one particular idea is to have a plane that flys on the denser air over the ocean and being airtight it can even dive under water 😮 … shifting gears from a propellor to a screw.. short stubby wings that can withstand both mediums…

For comparison, the Mitsui Bussan Aerospace official site still has a 19-page PDF file in Japanese at
    http://www.mb-aero.net/contents/pdf/ah-1z.pdf
that comprehensively proclaims the AH-1Z is better and cheaper than the AH-64D for the AH-X competition.

(My free legit English version Adobe Reader couldn’t read PDF files in Japanese: the pages appeared blank, so I dumped it, downloaded from the Adobe site the free legit Jap version, and installed it.)

Thumbs up to the AH-1Z 🙂

I wish I knew what kind of avionics, radar and weapons the Iranian tomcats now had.. I just can’t believe that its all the same inside today.

Imagine putting Al-31s in them. Sharp low level deep penetration strikes into the enemy heartland..

    >>>Well that explains why it wasn’t displayed publicly: people would’ve noted the TVC nozzles and started asking questions!

It was! Guys, what were you doing during MAKS-2005?

Unbelievable! The legendary Poitr Butovski does it again! You’re now entering legend status, Key mags very own Poirot!

I have one question to ask you – and I really hope you answer cause its been gnawing my head for ages – what is the MiG-E? and where does it stand today?

I think its incredibly dumb of them not to be buying Su-30s and newer versions of the S-300s in solid numbers.

    It wasn’t me……………..honest 😮 😮 😮 Mark 😀

    HA! 😀

I’ve got zero experience with RC planes.. Do you think something say 5 year olds can be made to work?>> The weather is obviously getting better and I’m thinking of attempting my own Stuka dives (hopefully not into the ground). 🙂

I’d have an exhibition of various planes mated together, particularly from opposing sides. Say a spitfire with an Me-109 entire tail section. A MiG-21 with Sidewinders, Martin bakers, western radar and with USAF markings. An F/A-18 with the latter half of the plane being a MiG-29. A B-2 in Vietnamese markings. A MIG-25 with F-14 like wings. A Eurofighter with not only its own canards but also a Rafale canard thus making a tri-plane. And last but not the least – a nuclear powered Airship with a AWACS type radar and CIWS all around… 🙂
