Hi
This is an old trick used by Photographers in the manual camera days. ie no electric shutters or auto focus, go to a pet shop buy a cat flee collar break a bit off and put it in a box with your camera with the lens off, but put the lens in too, leave for a couple of days, it worked in the old days.
Regards Phil.
I’ll try that. Thanks!
Its no good, I know this is very serious, but I can’t help it.
I keep visualising; you have the camera to your face, looking through the view finder. The cat flea/fruit fly turns round, looks you in the eye, down the lens, as big as a house, with a sheepish grin & waves at you.
You jerk the camera away from your face, with an expression of incredulity, blink once or twice, look again and he’s gone!
😀 😀
Thanks for reminding me.
Let’s keep the basis of this discussion firmly on commerical aviation or we shall have to setup camp moderation… :diablo: (its the way i tell ’em)
So can I still say I hope a 747 will land on that camp? Just asking. :diablo:
On second thought, make that a harrier, they are made for the purpose of pissing of greenies and landing in tight places.

Nice photos, and somewhere I want to go for a daytrip as well some day.
Which runway was in use, and how much of a hassle was it to get to the sport you where. I notice some are backlit and some aren’t. Is that because you changed spot, or because of the time of day.
Had the 70-300 APO as well till it broke (2 months out of waranty ).
It is an excellent lense, but only for good weather. Also, while technically it is a 70-300 you’d be wise to use it in the 70-250 range only, above 250 the quality deteriorates rapidly.
From time to time the auto-focus can be a bit slow, hunting for the target. However, for a lense in this pricerange it is one of the best ones available. In my opinion better then the similar lense from Canon.
As mentioned mine broke just after waranty expired. Might just be a case of bad luck, but I would go for extended waranty nonetheless. It might be cheap where lenses go, but that still makes it a lot of money!

And isn’t VLM about to be bought by AF/KLM ?
No, antitrust autorities would never take that. It would make KL/AF too strong a player on the Benelux market.
Having said that… there are some rumours that VLM will operate under franchise as a KLM carrier. Something similar to KLM Exel and KLM Alps back then.
and I bet every 2nd hand F-70 are all owned by KLM
About half of them. Figures may be slightly off, but about 49 where made. When the 5 “new” ones have been delivered KLM will have 26.
Hope they hurry up and go ahead with Rekkof.
An insider at Rekkof mentioned that the project is now over. KLM was their best (only) hope for a large order by a reputable airline. This would have been very important. A large order gives it some breathing space, and a reputable airline draws more customers whereas something like Iranistanairexpress does not.
OK, perhaps my question should be have Rekkof received an order yet ? And is it more appropriate to suggest the Embraer 190 will kill Rekkof off rarther than just this decision by AF/KLM ?
VLM is sure to order them had Rekkof gone ahead seeing as how VLM is owned by the same guy behind Rekkof. Next to that there was an order from Iran from a undisclosed airline.
Have Rekkof actually produced an aircraft yet ?
Nope, but they keep saying the produced a new-design wing and that the rest of the plane can be made using original molds and equipment.
Must be Emirates. They have painted the wheel area on the bottom of their aircraft in red and the Emirates name in white…
I know the below photos are of the A380, but it is purely for demonstration. I am not sure if they have got round to doing any of their A330s yet though!
Their 330s have the same and have so for probably 2 years already.
Don’t believe you can get to the rotation point by car… it ain’t schiphol!
To get there park your car at the Moat House Hotel (Holiday Inn I think?). Cross the street and walk through the gate to the left of the tunnel. Follow that path for 15 minutes through 5 or 6 more gates and that’s it.
A Dutchmen giving directions to a local…. cool!
F13 is a tad high. What you are doing with F13 is create a small apperture opening, combine that with you reasonably fast shutter time (1/400th) and there is simply not enough light getting into your camera.
A better set-up would be 1/400th with F8 for regular photos. Personally rather then using the Tv more I prefer using the Av mode.
Of course you can use F13 if you want, however you would have to slow down the shutter time to 1/60th or thereabout. But then you are well into panning-terrority. Great photos, but it requires some getting used to.
If you got photoshop or paintshop you can try to brighten up the photos.
Very cool shots! Think I may have just decided where to go on holiday next year (or the year thereafter, pending finance). Will probably go and combine DCA, IAD and the Smithsonian. Along with the usual tourist traps obviously.
What airline is this?
being overwhelmed by past events
Sounds about rigtht, but I am not a native speaker either.
