Todays cambridge evening news lists all the accidents involving aircraft based at duxford that had crashes, abroard, near or on the airfield, with the headline ARE OUR SKIES SAFE?.
Banning aerobatics or changing approaches or what ever else anybody comes up with is not going to lesson the chances of these incidents happening, simply due to the fact of “human error”.
Can anybody come up with a solution that will keep the likes of the bbc, cambridge evening news and certain locals quite, the iwm are in a corner and something has to be done now!
Amongst others hey BENTWINGBOMBER, they are slowly all being sold off,one by one.
Are you sure WILLOW,time will tell.
YES MARK V I DO
Spit XV111 SM969 is now i understand in norfolk being worked on
its outward bound.
Great pics MARK 12,its such a waste she is in a crate not in the skys over DUXFORD,dont give much hope to seeing that.
We would all love to see the P47 taken apart and put back in original condition without the back seat,it must of sat in that crate for what 7 years now if not more.
There must be interested parties out there, who would love to get their hands on her,can guess a certain collecter in seattle must know of its status.
It would be great to see her flying in the UK,but nobody has come forward so far and taken her out of her tomb.
Cutting up the shack is something that there should never of been any need to do,but i guess after the storms of 87 when the props got bend and no repairs were carried out its fate was sealed.
She has sat there all these years slowly deteriorating,i know the IWM cannot house all a/c but this story is very sad, never understood why the hanger base were the battle of britain film left its mark has not been used.
Hear hear well said, not the first a/c to go u/s and certainly not the last, roll on next legends.
At the end of the day the hurricane will soon be flying and we can all enjoy it.
BENTWINGBOMBER you are spot on with TFCs fury its been researched for a while through a naval historian, the colours are as the fury would of left the factory.
The TFC engineer doing the project has spent much time in creating what i regard as the most accurate fury rebuild (stock) since TF956,its not been easy he told me, but as we can see its slowly getting there.
I am sure TFC must have a better idea than a R3350 for their FURY,whats wrong with a centaurus gentlemen?,i know they have got one because i saw it sunday.
The TFC FURY seems to be the butt to a lot of jokes on here,it looks good and it will sound good,so lay off HAWKERS FINEST and prey on something else.
All it needs is the engine finished so it would look like, cant wait to see her fly.
Perhaps somebody complained to the moderator,or perhaps the moderator caught the teddy that was thrown because a certain person did not know something everybody else did. lol lol
PATHETIC
TFC must of tried their upmost to get the hurricane ready for the show, the guy in the black overalls under the plane i am sure was at BBMF or **** MELTONS at some stage.
The hurricane looks great i am sure we will be seeing her soon, love the dessert scheme.
Well it must be true then if its in flypast, dont be suprised if they are scrapped,us brits have a good track record for saving historic a/c.
The only way they will survive is if the americans get involved, and realise their worth, rather ironic really lasted all these years but now in danger from the country that produced them,i hope i am wrong we will see.
Now thats what i call a plane what a beastie, taken outside hanger 2 at duxford= sorry only joking
