Ryan PT22 went over head whilst I was having lunch at Priory Marina, Bedford, followed shortly afterwards by a Piper Vagabond going the other way and a few minutes ago I spotted the Provost to the north of Luton from my bedroom window.

According to libhomeradar.org, Finnair flew HEL-SIN with A340 OH-LQG on 20/04/12.

The spreadsheet that you can download from http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/displayinfo/ gives PDA rehearsal date as Fri 20/4, PDA Tue 24/4 with WX back up as Thu 26/4. No times on there though.

“The purchase of two second-hand BAe 146 aircraft, upgraded to theatre entry standard, helps to address an urgent Operation Herrick requirement for additional aircraft to enable the safe transport of troops and freight in theatre,” the UK’s Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation said in response to questions from Flightglobal. “The aircraft will supplement the hard-working C-130 Hercules fleet in providing safe (protected) movement between bases for troops in theatre.”

OK, not major shows, but as a kid in the 80s/early 90s I remember shows at Cardington, Chicksands, Cranfield & Henlow. That’s 4 gone just in the small county that is Bedfordshire!

I’d say there’s a clue in the date of the unveiling ceremony – 31st April!

Edit – And I just noticed the head of livery design’s name is an anagram of “a big joke”.

I noticed there were a few photos of CTF in Luton and Switzerland on t’internet. It’s a nice looking aircraft and my first MD-anything so I was pleased to get it and the Dornier. Got my first 328JET a few weeks ago, that was my first 328 prop.

Last time EL AL used 777s into Luton it was shown on the timetable downloadable from the airport website, but there’s timetables up to the end of June on there at the moment and no 777 mentioned.

Baaahstarrd, eh? And after I didn’t call you any names for getting that Saudi Herc! 🙂 As for Mexicans, I got this one back in December too:
