Got any ideas when WK163 will be flying again Will? She’s still the most beautiful aircraft in Hangar 7 IMO (I’ll get shot by the PY propellor head crew for that!).

I feel another visit to MAM coming on – I drive past it a few times every week so there’s no excuse really.

It’s Historic clearly – if a few of these aircraft aren’t allocated for preservation we’ll be moaning about our shortsightedness in 30 years time. We’ll also be arguing about the HLF funding a Tornado to the skies campaign and wondering why the CAA won’t let a civilian organisation fly it. We’ll probably be remembering the golden days of manned flight as well, and moaning about how pilotless aircraft have no soul.

It looks weird. Believe it or not you can read it. It’ll be interesting to see what our non English speaking contributors (i.e. the people for whom English is not their first language, not the English speakers for whom any written language is a challenge :))

And I’m too far away and running the risk of being kicked out by her indoors for the time spent on the Dak project.

Shame it would have been fun!

I’m guilty of bringing Opera into the debate I’m afraid – hate the bloody stuff. Loads of sweaty fat people wailing about stuff in Italian[1].

I thought Tracey Ermin’s chicken on a stick thing in Liverpool was lottery funded – but the point I was trying to make is that a lot of money is donated towards some pretty dodgy art projects, and the Vulcan is something I’d rather throw funds (and have funds thrown) at 🙂

[1] I’m an engineer. Don’t expect an appreciation of culture. The only culture I know is the one growing in that forgotten coffee cup down the workshop 🙂 [2]

[2]Have a think about whether I really mean it, or just trying to be provocative….[3]

[3]Unless it’s about Neds, Chavs or Pikeys. Then I mean it.

MODERATORS!!! They can’t bring that row into here! There’s a perfectly good Vulcan slagging thread for that.

Duncan Sandys: the man who decided that there was no requirement for manned aircraft and (In my opinion) caused the virtual destruction of the British aerospace industry. The Honourable Gentleman also once sat in a Typhoon during WWII and said:

“So this is a Spitfire? How many engines has it got?”

A level of knowledge commensurate with a future cabinet member responsible for defence.

I still feel that the historic aviation community shouldn’t knock this effort – I’ve a strong feeling that there are “people” far bigger than us willing VTS to fail.

If you personally do not want to support the program, that’s no problem – but please don’t knock those that are prepared to try and acheive something.

Having seen the problems that people have had trying to fund projects (not necessarily in the aviation field) that WILL return a revenue I reckon that VTS need a slap on the back for getting as far as they have. I would appreciate it if there were no knives being held at the time though 🙂

It might fly, it might not – at least it was tried. That’s one of the things I hate about my country – the cynical hope that the triers will fail. They might be dreamers and more might fall on their faces than succeed. If it wasn’t for the dreamers we would still be wondering how birds fly while telling stories by candlelight…

Hmmm. I appear to be ranting. Deep breaths… that’s better… Peace and light reigns supreme again.

One things for certain – I’d prefer my lottery money to go into the tin triangle whatever happens than to go into Opera or some piece of Tracy Ermin crap.

Couldn’t have been a Chav – a Lanc prop wouldn’t have fit in a Nova.
