    Shorty01,

The Vampire T.11’s that were in storage at Keevil, were WZ620 & XE921.
I believe they were being held with a view to restoration in the future.
They were moved out during 92/93.
    Current whereabouts?

Hanningfield Metals again, this time Phantom’s, See, the Buccsociety do have pictures of other aircraft. It shows FGR.2 XV587 and the forward section of another one, not sure which one it was though.
Might have to put another Bucc one up soon though, getting withdrawal symptoms!!!

    Hanningfield Metals, late 1990’s.
Glenn Cattermole’s Bucc cockpit section sat on top of an assortment of twisted metal.

More scrap Bucc’s if you would like, I have plenty of them!!

The last one to the slaughter at Shawbury in 1991 was the only one that remains extent today in the form of a cockpit section only, XX888.

Nothing so galmourous for the Shawbury 12!!!
November 1991 saw the destruction of 12, long stored Buccaneer’s and it was not a pretty sight.

I have attached an image showing the total brutality of a scrapman at work. Enjoy or cry.

The Blackburn Buccaneer Society will be providing the Airshow Rapid Response unit again this coming season.

Hope to get our Transit marked up for these events to that it can be recognised.

Also hope that my right hand man does not resemble a member of the Mafia again!!!!

Coanda, sorry for my late reply, a get together with some of my other restoration mates, equals too many beers at the local!!!!
God, do we talk and drink too much!

The BLC, as far as I remember, could only be cleaned by two ways, 1) Running up the system and blowing it out or 2) Putting a protective sleeve over the opening orifice, putting a hole in the sleeve to allow a high pressure airline head into it and blowing it through that way.

Most of the time the Bucc’s would have the BLC ducts covered by a series of blanking plugs to stop naughtly little birds from nesting in them, so would eliminate the neccesity of blowing the ducts clear, but its mighty impressive to see BLC in action when there has been load of water collecting in the BLC slit.

Hope my spelling has not suffered from my time down the boozer!!!

    Kemble Open Day

I received the following from Glen last week.

    “Dear All,

Replacing the Delta Jets Open Day for 2004 will be the “Kemble Open Day”. This is planned to take place on Sunday 12th September and will be run along the lines of the very successful Kemble Air Day that is held every June.

This new event will see involvement from the RAF as well as based aircraft in a relaxed afternoon flying display. We are planning to give this event the feel of the old style RAF “At Home” days whereby all based operators will be encouraged to get aircraft out for static display and if possible provide a flying display. There will be the usual array of trade stands, concessions and exhibitions on site to provide interest for all the family”.

    Hi Atc Pal,

I will get straight onto it, I used to keep all the accident data on the PC but after the failure of the last one I decided to print them out and pop them into binders.

Once again, cheers for the photos.

The latest I have heard is that one of the main hangars at Greenham is going to be dismantled and then re-errected near the old cruise missile bunkers, the mind boggles at the thought of the costs involved.

Does anyone know of a contact at Flying A? If you do, could you send me a PM with the details? Thanks in advance.
