Let me handle this,SOC. SD-10, the people you see on BR are basically well settled in life, well educated and basically happy, as you said. Chinese members take part in discussions there, and seem to put their point across well. These are pretty much the ONLY people in India who discuss China so much,outside the Govt. of India. The lesser-educated people simply HAVE NO TIME for all this.. they are all more worried about how to feed their families, how to handle work-pressures and the like.
As for your barb about there being few educated people in India, Kerala,Goa and Pondicherry have 100% literacy now, and other states are slowly inching up. Sure,Chinese literacy rate is around 85%(http://www.accu.or.jp/litdbase/policy/chn/), but India is at 66% and moving up steadily(http://www.mapsofindia.com/census2001/literacyrate.htm).
By all means,SOC,visit India and China,take in 2 great countries,and enjoy yourself. Indian food is pretty good too,you know 😉
Chinese food in China is good too(visited Beijing,Guangdong,Shanghai and HK last year),but vegetarian food is scarce on the ground.:(
