Heres the catch. Did they have other radars to begin with?
Out of the 5 that did have the Agave, at one point of time, reliability problems forced three off the flightline, leaving only two available.

Thats probably why we acquired the Elta 2032.

There are 10 IM’s, with two Trainers, the crew wear non IAF std Orange flightsuits for Naval ops.

Presently the whole Qn of Jaguars for AS roles seems moot as the MKIs seem to be picking up the slack armed with KH31’s and then the Brahmos in the future.

Interesting.. so do you see them being phased out in the near future?

No, the Indian IM’s have transitioned to the Elta 2032. They are now getting SAR/ ISAR modes (which were apparently an option and not part of the original package), deal being signed on the 13th of January 2004. The Agaves had poor serviceability and were increasingly unreliable. BTW was it known earlier that only 5 IM’s had the Agave?

Thanks for the update. Wait.. we had 10-12 IMs,right? Which radar did the others have?

I have atleast one picture of a Jaguar (can’t figure out which operator) that has absolutely no overwing pylons, but maybe it isn’t a Jag International.

Also according to atleast one source, atleast one RAF Jaguar in service in IAF flew directly from India to Oman.

A couple of questions – is that a Sea Eagle parked in front of the Jag?

And how would the Jag find targets for the Sidewinders and Magic-IIs?

About the Sea Eagles, Indian Jag IS/IM planes use the Agave radar, dedicated Maritime Strike aircraft with the Sea Eagles.

Anubis here is quote from AFM special on F-16 magazine
From the AFm special on the F-16

While Israeli and American combat operations with the F-16 tend to grab the headlines, other nations have used the aircraft to great effect. Pakistani Air Force F-16s shot down a number of aircraft that had violated Pakistan’s airspace during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan during the mid-1980S following the 1979 Soviet invasion. These victories included a Sukhoi Su-22 confirmed as shot down by a 9 Squadron F-16 on May 17, 1986, plus a second probable kill. No.14 Squadron, based at Kamra, also claimed some kills, which included one Su-22 and a Mikoyan MiG- 23 on April 22, 1987. On August 4, 1988, a 14 Squadron F-16A shot down a Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot when the Soviet aircraft violated Pakistan airspace. Pakistan is also reported to have suffered four F-16 losses in aerial combat, a single aircraft to a Soviet MiG-23MLD on September 12, 1988, and three aircraft to Indian Air Force Mirage 2000s and a MiG-29 during May 1999.”

Pretty sure we didn’t shoot down any Pakistani planes in Kargil.
