I don’t go spotting really normally just have a look when im on my way somewhere. I remember Lydd Airport you could walk on to a fenced area from the bar to the apron and sit outside !! Nice in the summer but not too much to see unfortunately !

I like Manchester Terminal 3, not as keen on the other two. Liverpool’s new terminal is good also like London City and Edinburgh.

I don’t know about your 737 question, Saw a series 700 while i was there on Sunday night. i had just arrived from London City on the new VLM service. Also noted a 757 from Cardiff on a football charter.

The new terminal is large and certainly the check-in hall has a lot of room. The security takes longer these days, probably because of passenger volumes. I noticed they are advising that check-in closes 40 mins and not 30 mins prior now, is this for all there airports does anyone know ??

I guess flying out to Basel and back from Geneva would be an interesting trip, the train in between would be nice, not sure it could be done in a day however.

Many people fly over from IOm to Liverpool to link with Easyjet, maybe you could have flown back from Barcelona to Isle of Man via Liverpool. I think Euromanx have on-line bookings and I know they have a frequent ATR42 service LPL-IOM. You would have also not have had that tedious transfer from South to North terminal at Gatwick.

Does anyone know what the law is regarding taxes refunds. I have booked two tickets Man-Lgw return with opodo. They are cheap fares but I know I wont be using them. When I enquired about a refund of the taxes Opodo kind of brushed over that and just said the fare was non-refundable ! ? I am pursuing it as taxes theses day often make up quite a lot of the fare.

The perception from Liverpool/Merseyside by many people is that Luton is not really London in the same way that Gatwick or Heathrow might be considered. However Easyjet did carry 196,000 passengers between Liverpool and Luton over 500 per day in 2000, the talk now is a Gatwick link which would be considered a more attractive arrival point. Landing fees increased by Luton airport’s new owner was cited as one of the main reason that Easyjet stopped the Luton link.

VLM did try a Liverpool – London city- Antwerp service a number of years ago, the route started to grow, but they made a complete hash of the timings on offer and so rendered the service unattractive for business passengers, who were the prime target for the service. The airline appears to be run quite differently today and I have used their Manchester-London city route which is very good, hopefully they may repeat that from Liverpool.

I can not see them getting many takers on MAN-LTN not with so much other choices available from Manchester to London already, with fares not that different.

They should look at Liverpool to London which at the moment had no air link to London at all. There is more potential there, considering the rail option is often appalling and Liverpool is European Capital of Culture 2008. However they may not have the route to themselves, as there seems to be much talk of late about the route with both VLM and Easyjet mentioned interested.

I found the detail on Austravels website of the EAL charter to Sydney. I have paid to go delux class and although it is still a lot of money as im going over the xmas period, its a good-deal compared to the regular airlines.

Anyway i hope its enjoyable and im looking forward to the extra room. Im actually going to visit friends in NZ

EAL fly from Gatwick to Sydney once a week in the winter, I know this because I have a booking with them, via Austravel.

To drive from Cork to Belfast would take an age. I once drove from Dublin to Kenmare in County Kerry, it took 6 hours and its about 150 miles ! I think domestic air services with the republic are quite well supported, but I would have thought a service between Dublin and Belfast woulh have proved popular.
